Thank you! That's a good work around for the time being.

If this has been a bug since 1.5, that's not encouraging that it will be fixed very soon... 😅

Hello! I am seeing two problems with adding live filters to masks. 1. When I try to add a live filter to a layer mask, the filter is placed at the top of my layers (instead of as a child to the mask). I can manually move the filter afterwards to be a child to the mask, but it would be nice if I didn't need to do that. 2. The bigger problem is that when I invert the filter (so that I can paint the filter onto just the desired areas), it will hide all of the filter AND all of the mask. It should only hide the filter, right? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but if not I would love to have these bugs fixed! 🙂

Is there a way to make the paint brush less... juttery? When I hold down the bracket key shortcut to resize my brush, it does not resize smoothly. Here's a 10 second video of me resizing my brush. The first 2 seconds are at normal speed, and then the same clip slowed down to showcase the jutter. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7agz3uabfdwfwrd/Slow Brush.mp4?dl=0 Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this just Affinity not working well? I am using a 2019 MacBook Pro, Affinity Photo version 1.8.3.

Blurring Mask - Buggy Workflow
Nicole Hurst replied to Nicole Hurst's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I'm not sure why you can't see your blur filter anymore... haha where did it go? 😅 My #3 and #4 are very similar, but the bug makes it so that you can't jump straight to #4, even with the Assistant turned on. The blur filter refuses be applied to a mask as a child layer, without first removing the mask from the photo layer. -
1.8 retains a bug that has been around for as long as I can remember: applying a blur to a mask does not work the way it's supposed to. When you try to apply a blur to a mask, it puts the blur at the top of the layer's panel, instead of making it a child to the mask. Then when you try to manually make it a child layer, it won't accept it. So you need to place the mask and the blur above the photo, and then make the mask/blur group a child to the photo. Having this bug fixed would help out my workflow, and I assume many other's as well. 😊

That's true, so this could be considered a "feature" if the color panel switched to greyscale sliders if you have a mask selected, and then jumped back to your default color choice when you are on a different layer. But at this point, it keeps the greyscale sliders even after you switch to another type of layer.
-
Normally, I like to use the Color Wheel inside the Color Panel, but when I apply a mask, it will switch the color panel to greyscale sliders. I can reset the Color Panel, but then if I select the mask layer again (after selecting a different layer), the greyscale sliders will come back.

LUTs do not accept Blend Ranges
Nicole Hurst replied to Nicole Hurst's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I'm not sure the video loaded correctly... here's a Dropbox link to it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yoor1vtgzr1se2a/lut test.mp4?dl=0 -
LUTs do not accept Blend Ranges
Nicole Hurst replied to Nicole Hurst's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I've attached the demo LUT I made, along with video showing how the blend ranges are not working with the LUT. lut_test.mp4 Untitled.cube -
Ahh that's too bad... thank you for your help!

I'm running the latest version of Mac OS and Affinity Photo, and the Media Browser is gone! I hope this is just a bug, and the feature was not removed.

I tried making a LUT today, and Affinity would export my LUT just fine, except it would not honor any changes I made to blend ranges. I'm pretty sure this is a bug, because I've used blend ranges on LUTs before. Or I might be misremembering things, and this might really be a feature request.
