  1. I must say, the first thing I thought when I heard about v2.0 was "Ooh... I hope we get column span" - the lack of that feature is the one big frustration I had since moving over from Adobe InDesign to Affinity Publisher.
  2. As far as I am concerned this is now the only missing feature in Affinity publisher and I am surprised (and disapointed) that it hasn't been added yet. Surely it can't be that difficult to implement? I mean even Adobe found a way to do it!
  3. Ah yes... it's all coming back to me! Yes printing to PDF is possible on Windows but the microsoft "print to PDF" driver doesn't permit the security to be set. I'm guessing when I did this last I still had Adobe Acrobat installed which installs it's own print driver. I bet that's what I will have used. Of course I don't have that anymore. Time to look for one of the third party options. I've got another clunky workround using "PDF Mate PDF Converter for Windows" which does permit me to set the protection I need - sort of. I can protect the document from edits while having reading unprotected but I can't enable the document for document readers, as I would normally do. I think I can live with that - most of my public documents are for photographers and you don't get that many visually impared photographers (although there are some). I hope Affinity add the option in the future - it seem quite a big ommission from the product.
  4. Last year I ditched InDesign for Affinity Publisher - much, much easier to use. I'm stuggling with one area - I need to set the security permissions on the resulting PDFs to allow printing but prevent copying. In InDesign this was done as part of the export dialog box - but I'm struggling to find where to do this in Affinity Publisher. I'm sure I've done it before but I can't remember how I did it. If anyone can give me a quick reminder it would be appreciated as I need to set this before I can publish my current project on-line. Thanks Ian.
  5. I should never have done this BUT I opened publisher to export a document that I need to get out tonight. Publisher notified me that a new version was available. I foolishly clicked download and then clicked install. The install failed with the 'helpful' message of 'Setup failed' Same result when selecting "run as administrator" Went to install version 1.7.1.404 - same error "setup fail" both when running as normal and when running as administrator. I've attached the setup log file - can anyone give me a solution I need to export my document this evening. Thanks Ian. SetupUI.log
