TJH Art Studio got a reaction from Ronin Inkhaurt in Affinity Designer for iPad - Rulers
“Rulers? I don’t need no rulers when I’m drawing.” says the artist in an alternate universe where everything is built on guess work. How’s that working out?

Still no rulers. It's only been two years.

Thank you. I'll give these a try and see how they work.

This will be great because I want to draw more realistic looking animal fur and human hair using vector. I know that a lot of layers will be used to get the results but it will be worth it. Thank you.

TJH Art Studio got a reaction from Spraypaintsensei in Turn off auto colour Picker and best stylus to use
Please tell me you’ve solved this problem. It’s way into December when I’m reading this thread for the first time. I’m having the same issue. I have the latest I-Pad 2019 addition and this Designer software does the same thing. The background color comes up when I’m trying to do line drawing. There has to be an off switch on the color picker, right? How do I stop this thing from switching on me? I have four different stylus’ and it does the same thing on all of them.
Another question is if I buy the Apple Pencil 1st or 2nd generation, will it solve the color picker problem? I don’t want to spend the money on it if the problem still remains.
UPDATE:
I solved my problem with the color picker. It seems I needed to buy the Apple Pencil 1st generation to make it work. I’m not sure why only Apple pencils can be used but I bought one and now I’m ready to use the Designer, Photo and Publisher products. I’ll like you know how it works.

TJH Art Studio got a reaction from Swat in Introduce Yourself
Hello to everyone. My name is Thomas J Herring from Portland Oregon in the USA. I’ve used the Adobe products off and on since the mid nineties, I think. It’s been so long that I’ve forgot. Anyway I had to use the Adobe cloud system and realized I wasn’t making enough money to justify using it but like a lot of users, I was stuck. Then Adobe decided to cut me off because my MacBook and IPad were 2008 and 2014 and outdated. A found Affinity when I stumbled onto J Cristina’s YouTube channel about cutting the chord to Adobe. I checked you out and went for it. I have all three Affinity software programs to go on my new MacBook Air and IPad.
What a change! I’m still experimenting on them. For now I’m working on the Designer program. It runs circles around Illustrator! I bought the Photo and Designer books and use the videos to help me figure things out. So far I love this. Thank you and and keep up the great work. I hope to do step by step artwork on YouTube someday using your product. Just do me a favor and don’t mess up a good thing by following Adobe business practice. What you have could go a long ways. I even downloaded Devinci Resolve for my animation work. If everything goes well I’m never going back to Adobe again.

Hello everyone. My name is Thomas Herring and I live in Portland, Oregon or as it's called, the Great North West. I'm 62 and have been doing various forms of art since I was a little kid. I still do acrylic and oil painting and have done airbrush art. I have decided to learn digital art because that was the way to go. Like a lot of you, I started with Adobe and when the company started making it possible to make monthly payments, I thought it was a great idea. Then I realized the payments would never end and also I only used three or four programs. To me, it was like buying the cable for 60 channels and only using four. What a waste of money and now, they don't work on old computers. My MacBook is 2008. I can't afford a new one. So when I found out about Affinity, by accident on a Youtube channel, I decided to check out your product.
This was the right place. My 10.9.5 software can still run Affinity Designer. The price is amazing so now I can practice using it and later Photo and Publisher to make new art. Thank you for looking out for the artists and I hope this will be a wonderful long relationship between us and your company.
