  1. It recently started crashing numerous times after I stop working on the project. As soon as I click on it to open it, it crashes. The project is saved as .afdesign. There is no way I can open it to safe a copy as a pdf or any other file. My IPad is up to date as 2.3.0.265. I uploaded a sample of my project. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you. Thomas Herring
  2. Is it now possible to upload the Thai font to Affinity 2.1 and if so, how can I do it?
  3. How can I use the Thai fonts in Designer? I am working on a tract for a client. Some of the tone marks do not set in the proper place with the Thai letters. It is suppose to look like this“ให้รู้ว่า” but when I copy it on Designer, the top and bottom tones do not line up. They float by itself like this" ัร". Any idea how I can fix this? I can type it on a word processor and it looks correct but for some reason when I transfer it to Designer this happens.
  4. As what the title mentions, is there an update for the IPad (1.9.3) or do I need the latest chip to get it? Also I’m looking for the Veneer font to use on both my laptop and IPad. Where can I get it and is it free or do I have to pay for it? Thanks. TJ Herring
  5. I must have missed it somewhere but is there a update on the IPad for 1.9.3? My desktop is updated. but I haven’t seen anything for the IPad. I bought my Ipad in 2020 so it doesn’t have the latest chip in it.
  6. “Rulers? I don’t need no rulers when I’m drawing.” says the artist in an alternate universe where everything is built on guess work. How’s that working out?
  7. Thank you for your input. I went to their website and updated the latest driver. Unfortunately it didn’t make any changes. I then read some review about it which I’d wished I did before I bought it and it is a problem on the Mac computers but not with the Windows. I went and bought a Wacom bluetooth tablet and it was great! No problems with it. Anyway, I’m happy so now I can do my artwork.😎
  8. I bought a Deco 01 v2 XP Pen and tablet and it’s not behaving very well with Affinity Designer on my new 2019 MackBook Air. It’s hard to control the pen on the tablet. Unfortunately there wasn’t any good instructions with the tablet Also my Track pad won’t work when the tablet is connected but when I disconnect it, then it works. All three Affinity products works well on my I-Pad and Apple Pencil so that’s not a problem. Has anyone used the XP Pen on Designer and got it to work well? Thomas J. Herring
  9. I can maneuver the stroke but it doesn't vary a lot. It use to but I think I hit a setting that disabled it or minimized it. I would reset the program but I like that setting the way it is except for that minor headache. Thomas
  10. The problem I have is I can’t find the stroke tool on my IPad even though I’m using Node tool. The desktop version doesn’t have this problem.
  11. I’m using an IPad and MacBook Air. Will this work with my system?
  12. This will be great because I want to draw more realistic looking animal fur and human hair using vector. I know that a lot of layers will be used to get the results but it will be worth it. Thank you.
  13. Yes, that is what I want. I want to make custom changes to each text and the outline is what I need. thank you. Now I have to practice how to do it with Designer. Thomas J Herring
  14. Hello and thank you for the recent update to 1.8.2. I use both the IPad and the Desktop for all three platforms. My question is, I want to edit a text like what I used to do with Adobe Illustrator using their Creative outline mode. Is there a way to do that using Designer? I would like to customize a font within a title but I can’t seem to find a way to do it. Thanks. Sometimes it’s hard to find where it’s at in order to make changes. Is the rule mode on this? I’m designing outline drawing for a indoor wall mural. Thomas J. Herring
  15. Hello to everyone. My name is Thomas J Herring from Portland Oregon in the USA. I’ve used the Adobe products off and on since the mid nineties, I think. It’s been so long that I’ve forgot. Anyway I had to use the Adobe cloud system and realized I wasn’t making enough money to justify using it but like a lot of users, I was stuck. Then Adobe decided to cut me off because my MacBook and IPad were 2008 and 2014 and outdated. A found Affinity when I stumbled onto J Cristina’s YouTube channel about cutting the chord to Adobe. I checked you out and went for it. I have all three Affinity software programs to go on my new MacBook Air and IPad. What a change! I’m still experimenting on them. For now I’m working on the Designer program. It runs circles around Illustrator! I bought the Photo and Designer books and use the videos to help me figure things out. So far I love this. Thank you and and keep up the great work. I hope to do step by step artwork on YouTube someday using your product. Just do me a favor and don’t mess up a good thing by following Adobe business practice. What you have could go a long ways. I even downloaded Devinci Resolve for my animation work. If everything goes well I’m never going back to Adobe again. TJ Herring
  16. Please tell me you’ve solved this problem. It’s way into December when I’m reading this thread for the first time. I’m having the same issue. I have the latest I-Pad 2019 addition and this Designer software does the same thing. The background color comes up when I’m trying to do line drawing. There has to be an off switch on the color picker, right? How do I stop this thing from switching on me? I have four different stylus’ and it does the same thing on all of them. Another question is if I buy the Apple Pencil 1st or 2nd generation, will it solve the color picker problem? I don’t want to spend the money on it if the problem still remains. UPDATE: I solved my problem with the color picker. It seems I needed to buy the Apple Pencil 1st generation to make it work. I’m not sure why only Apple pencils can be used but I bought one and now I’m ready to use the Designer, Photo and Publisher products. I’ll like you know how it works. TJH Art Studio
  17. That's what I figured. I bought a new Ipad and will get the new Designer and Publish software for it. I'll have to look for a refurbished MacBook.
  18. I am still having a problem with Designer crashing when I hit either Save or Save as. The message reads: "Failed to save document: Celesrtrial Tiger (the name of my project) Saved failed because access to the file was lost. The document must now be closed." The original file is in the folder. I don't understand why it can't find or save it. I have the 1.7.3 version. My Macbook is 2008 OSX 10.9.5 4GB 1067 MHZ DDR3
  19. I have the exact same problem with my Macbook. It's a 2008 model. I hope it's not so old that it's causing me problems. I can't afford to buy a new one because I just bought a new IPad. I may have to buy the Affinity for the IPad if I can't use the desktop.
  20. I was having a problem when saving the file as afdesign. It was odd because I would save the art, for example, as a tiff or pdf which was not a problem but when I wanted to close it out, the afdesign file would crash is I tried to save it. Would it be better to not save it and then later opening the tiff or pdf file in its place?
  21. Here is another version of my art project. I'm not sure why it doesn't show up at your end. I saved it in Quicktime and can replay it on my Quicktime. Video_Crash_Clip2.mov
  22. As you can see when I save the file to tiff or any other format, I don't have a problem as long as I export and then save. If I go directly to save that is when it crashes. Any ideas what the problem could be? Video_Crash_Clip2.mov
