I know, I've thought of that too. That'd be way too nice. I run out of colors, so I just repeat them in corresponding patterns.

Btw, thought I'd let you know that I really appreciate the ability to give each layer a different color. I use it a lot to keep everything separate when I have the layers expanded & trying to decide which artboard is where... Keep up the great work n have wonderful day all!

Thanks also for all the time and efforts that are spent on the Affinity software. I'm an Affinity fan since I started with it, and running the latest versions of all 3. Keep up the great work!!

Hi there, Just wondering, is there any way I can set a shortcut for this: I use the pen tool to do lots of my selections if I want to do a clear cut from the background. So I have a closed curve, & always have to go up & hit selection. It'd be real neat if I could just create a shortcut for this.... Any advice?? Thanks!

Yeah definitely! I wasn't sure if I need it, but now that I got started I'd hate being without it! The Studio Link a great plus, it's way too nice to be able to switch between Photo, Designer, & Publisher that easily & smoothly... Not to make you jealous, just saying.

I'm sorry. I was in Publisher. I discovered that when I got frustrated when they were shown; text selected or not.

Or go into View- & uncheck Show Text Flow.

For interest's sake, I decided to post the finished product, so you can see that your help wasn't in vain. I ended up doing each letter separately, & just copying & pasting the filter layers to each letter. I tried to set a style so I wouldn't have to copy & paste but it refused to do anything when I clicked 'create style'. I assumed it isn't possible with filters. ps I realize it isn't Monday (it turned out to be Labor Day & no work! temporary memory loss.) speed.afdesign

You're not alone! I've tried & tried to get good sharp & yet smooth cut edges with the other selection tools to no avail. I don't know how many times I watched the selection tutorials. I finally decided the pen tool is the way to go in order to achieve the edges I want. That being said though, I do use the selection brush tool some and then finish it up with the pen tool. I was just really pleased to discover how well the pen tool worked, saves me hours of work! Hopefully someone can help you out!

Thanks Wosven! With the motion blur & the halftone plus another layer I basically get what I want. I'm still going to fine tune this once I get back to the office Monday morning, but I think I know what I need to know to get it done. Thanks for your help everyone! I appreciate it! Good day!

Did you try the magical wand & play with the tolerance? That generally works real nice for me to select white backgrounds....

Carl123, yours looks closest to what I'd want, but I was envisioning the lines only streaming from the left side of the letters. I'm thinking it'll take a few trials.... No it really isn't what I'm looking for, but I'm unable to find a picture to show what I want to achieve. (Other than the mental picture I have) I'm wondering if I'll have to draw what I want? To describe it- It's more distinct lines streaming out behind the letters than just a simple blur almost shadow that the motion blur filter gives you. I did do the filter on the text & then copy & paste the text on top again without the blur which seemed to help some, but it still looked more like a shadow than anything.

Of course. Forgot temporarily about that set of filters. It still doesn't totally get what I'm looking for; I was wishing for less fuzz & more sharp lines in the blur if you know what I mean. Oh well, I'll keep on fiddling with it. Thanks for your reply!

Hello everyone! I'm trying to figure out what the best way is to give text the 'in motion' effect. I'd like to only do the very edge of the letters. With the motion blur filter you have to rasterize firs, correct? & that would do more of the word than what I'd prefer. Anyway, didn't know if any of you have a smart way of doing it or not? Thanks!
