@JGD Thanks for your report, I've included it with an existing issue that relates to the Export Persona.

It seems now, in V2, that I am able to use the export persona successfully each time when using the little export icon next to my layer. However the actual export button at the bottom just beach balls still.

By the way, I did manage to get out of the loop, by manually exporting an individual slice (through a click on the rightmost square-and-arrow widget/button, not the “Export Slices” one).

Hi guys. I've been trying to export an icon file into several .PNG slices, and the Export Slices dialog consistently makes AD2 irrecoverably hang.
This is an old bug that also affected, IIRC, AD1, but it seems to have gotten worse; before it was intermittent, but now it seems to have borked this functionality altogether (I can try with other similar files, however). If you want, I can also send you the file for you to test on.
I've also recorded a small video of it in action; you can't see the beachball cursor, because of some weird limitation in QuickTime, but believe me, it's there and it appears just a few seconds after the dialog opens (also, even if I quickly try to change to a different destination folder, those clicks aren't ever registered).

Rriver got a reaction from genki in Designer freezes upon using Export Persona when saving to Google Drive
In my case, exporting a single file (slice) works fine, but Designer freezes when I try to export multiple slices at once by clicking on the button at the bottom of the slice panel. When it freezes, I have to force quit the app in order to do anything else.
Once you are able to save a single file to a folder, though, it lets you export multiple slices. But then, when you try to export multiple slices at once with another file, Designer freezes after showing the finder dialog.
It has happened on V1 and continues to do so on V2.
    I use the following:
macOS Ventura 13.1 Affinity Designer 2.0.4 Mac Studio 2022 M1 Max I use Google Drive and it is running in the back, but I am saving files on the local drive, not to the Google Drive folder. I also use Adobe Creative Cloud storage, and I usually save to a folder which is synced with it.
I really hope this gets fixed soon.

Version numbers are displayed on the About dialog (or preferences in iPad builds)

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update. For the macOS release, in the application main menu there is an option "Check for Updates". Alternatively, you can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Updates are installed automatically (or manually by installing the new version over the old) Previous builds do not need uninstalling first. New installations of paid software downloaded from the Affinity Store requires LICENSE ACTIVATION to use.
Software downloaded from the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and iPad store do not require a license activation and are updated through the relevant store:
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
If you’ve purchased from the Pad Store— Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

Rriver got a reaction from GUSSAN in I can't switch English and Japanese input sources
    Hello,
It looks like the same issue existed on 1.8.3 and the following thread shows how to fix it. I solved the issue by turning on 英字(Romaji) on 日本語 – ローマ字入力(Japanese – Romaji) keyboard, then, deleting the ABC keyboard in システム環境設定(System Preferences) > キーボード(Keyboard) > 入力ソース(Input Sources).
I confirmed the issue on Designer 1.8.6 and Photo 1.8.6 on macOS 11.1 on Mac mini (M1, 2020).

    Hi mogu and Rriver,

Thank you for letting us know. We've reproduced this here and have passed it on to development to be fixed.

In the meantime the workaround of switching language to English Rriver has mentioned will allow you to use those fonts.

This happens on my environment as well (M1 Mac mini / macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 / Affinity Designer 1.10.0 App Store version).
In my case, though, some other Japanese fonts that I installed myself are missing from the list, too (e.g. Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts, etc.).

    Hi, guys
I'm using it in a Japanese environment, but I cannot switch  English and Japanese input sources when entering text.
Normally, as shown in the reference image, pressing the key switches to the English and Japanese input sources, but after the 1.8.6 update, it does not switch.
This is a problem common to all "Photo", "Designer", and "Publisher".

    Mac App Store: Not Submitted
    Download: Download
    Auto-update: Not available

    Hello,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Affinity Designer Beta 1.8.4.2 for macOS.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is an incremental update to the 1.8.3 version currently available in the store to all customers (though it installs parallel to the release). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.
    Many thanks!
    Matt

    Changes Since 1.8.3
    - Fix for incorrect rendering of grids in OpenGL past certain zoom levels.
    - Fix for poor functioning of 'Force Touch' trackpads in pressure-sensitive tools.
    - Speculative fix for occasional lockups in Pencil Tool.
    - Added option in preferences to re-enable the old behaviour for deleting objects (we used to previously favour empty selections).
    - Added ability to show folders as icons in the layers panel.
    - Added option to always show folders as “small” in the layers panel.
    - Improved dragging behaviour in the layers panel (make it easier to drag child items around within their container without affecting parenting).
    - PDF import performance improvements.
    - Document save performance improvements.
    - Text performance improvements.
    - Assorted small bug fixes.
    - Help improvements.
    - Localisation improvements.

To be notified when this update comes out of beta and is fully released to all Affinity Designer customers, please follow this release notification thread
