  1. I've got two licences of AD V1. One is for my desktop PC, the other is (or should that be was?) for my laptop, which died last week and doesn't look as though it can be repaired. I've got a new laptop and have installed V1 on it, but I'm not sure which of my two keys I should use to activate it. Is there any way to view which key has been used to activate a particular install? I want to avoid using the key that's assigned to my desktop PC, for obvious reasons.
  2. This has turned out to be a really useful tip for the work I'm doing. Thank you for pointing it out!
  3. Noted. So in all other respects, the geometry is unchanged (if the path is closed)?
  4. @Return - That works nicely. Many thanks for the tip. Not quite sure why "Add" would do that, but I'll take it.
  5. @LeProberto - that's a really simple fix! Many thanks for pointing it out. I see that if I deselect the object, then reselect it, the 'old' parameterisation is back. Is there any way to make the "regular bounds" a permanent state? It's not a big deal as being able to switch using the method you've provided allows me to check dimensions in the Tranform panel. @Old Bruce - perhaps a little background information is in order. The CAD software in question is Rhino. The latest Beta version copies data to clipboard in a number of formats, among which svg is one. DXF and DWG are not on the list AFAIK. When switching to another application such as AD, I assume that software parses the list of headers for the copied data and somehow selects the one best supported. I looks like svg is used in this case, as the corner radii are not the usual four point Beziers. For a new cross-platform feature it shows a lot of promise, though there are still bugs and anomalies. This parameterisation issue appears to be one. Another is that whilst plain rectangles come in to AD as a joined closed path, filleting the corners of the same rectangle in Rhino (where it remains a closed path) then bringing that over results in 8 separate objects in AD which have to be selected and joined. I don't know if that failing is happening in what Rhino does, or AD.
  6. When I import vectors from my CAD in Designer, I'm occasionally seeing odd behaviour in the way that it parameterises what are simple shapes (rectangles with rounded corners). Sometimes I'm seeing this, which is what I'd expect: ...but for another, similar, shape, I see this: It doesn't seem to affect how the shapes edit, but the Transform tab obviously reports meaningless dimensions. I need to be able to check that these shapes are the correct size, so that's causing me a problem. Is there anything that can be done to 'reparameterise' the fit of the grips for these shapes, without altering them? I'm not sure what is causing some to behave correctly and others not.
  7. Is it possible to copy over my workspace layout from V1 to V2? I spent quite a while setting up V1 to suit my needs and I'm not even sure that I can remember how I did some of it. I'm not a frequent user of the Affinity suite - spend most of my time working in CAD. Also, can I import the custom setting profiles I have in the Export Persona?
  8. Is there a keyboard shortcut to delete the fill of a vector object? Or a way to assign one in Preferences > Keyboard shortcuts? Thanks, Matt Edit: It looks as though "/" does this? Just for reference, where can I find that in the Keyboard shortcuts menus?
  9. Because the part of the file that is to be printed has to be converted to vectors. It's company policy, to avoid discrepancies in the reading of fonts at suppliers, which we've ha bad experiences with in the past. The job(s) could go out to any number of suppliers, all with different setups. We don't have control over that.
  10. It seems pointless to convert all of the title block text to paths. Thereafter, it can't be edited. I've got hundreds (possibly thousands, in time) of these files to create and any/all of them may need to be updated at some point in the future. Having to keep 'saved out' versions of each update to each one (with everything converted to paths) as well as the fully editable version of the same file will become a nightmare to manage. I've had to do that with a lot of CAD files in the past and I don't want to go there again. The Export persona facility caters for this very need, as it's non-destructive. Slices is a further step and could give me what I need within the artwork area of the file, but I can't see a way of setting up a Slice within the complete artboard so that both the region with the Slice setting (namely text to curves) and the rest of the artboard (namely text as text) are exported to a print-ready PDF as one. The tools to do what I need are all there, but there doesn't appear to be a way of combining them into a single document at export.
  11. Dusting off an old topic, but it comes close to what I'm looking for.... I have lots of artwork files that I need to export for print. Their layout is the same in all cases and looks very much like a CAD drawing, with a border and title block that holds information about fonts, colours, sizes etc. Any text in the artwork area (but not the title block) has to be converted to paths/curves when it is saved out to PDF for print. I don't really want to convert all of the text in the title block to curves. Equally, any conversion of text to curves that I do, I don't want to be destructive in case I need to update the file in future. In Export Persona , is there a way to set a region of the artboard that will convert text curves? Thanks, Matt
  12. Hi MEB - thanks for a very quick response Current settings from the top tool bar, left to right: Width 79px; Opacity 100%; Flow 100%; Hardness 80%; Length 35px; Tolerance 10%. I've tried changing these values but it makes no difference. Could it be something to do with my settings on the Colour tab? What's the significance of the foreground and background colours in the context of the Colour Replacement Brush - should I bring the foreground or background to the fore? That said, I've tried both ways and it doesn't seem to have any effect. Also, the button with the diagonal red line on a white ground? In Edit>Preferences>User Interface, the only change I've made is to tick "Always show Brush Crosshair", which I found to make precise picking easier.
  13. Hello everyone. My first post here and very (very) much a newbie to Affinity. I've been using the Colour Replacement Brush to change the hue of environment maps that I use in my CAD package. The maps are simple and are either jpg or png format. I had successfully changed the hue of two or three maps then late yesterday, something stopped working. With the tool selected, I can set the RGB colour values for the brush in the top right-hand panel, but the circle of the brush tool no longer shows that colour - it just remains 'clear'. When I try to apply a hue change, nothing happens. It looks as though I've inadvertently changed a critical setting. Any ideas what that might be and how I can get the tool working again?
