Crash after edit frame insets in Table Formats
jperalta replied to Powerhorse's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
I have a document that I use as a template in which I have defined several table formats with frame and insets. They work, but I cannot change these table formats, if I make a change of any kind, the software crashes. I guess I created these formats in a previous version of Publisher, so in the past it worked. I am using version 1.10.5.1342. And thanks for the information, it was driving me crazy, I was about to recreate the template from scratch, for now I will delete the frames and insets to continue working while the problem is fixed. -
I am working with Designer on the design of a board game and I have encountered a problem when exporting the game box to PDF/X-3 format. This is what I see in Designer, the sides of the box are the same design as the cover, copied as a whole, rotated 90º and encapsulated inside a rectangle the size of the side of the box. When I export to PDF/X- 3 with the default option of "rasterize unsupported properties", the PDF shows me this: As you can see the design of the side has overflowed the rectangle in which it is encapsulated and has invaded the cover of the box. I think this happens because the design contains effects such as shadows and Gaussian blurs. Also the folding lines of the box (Pantone+overprint) have had something weird happen to them. This does not happen if I use PDF/X-4 or print ready (PDF 1.6 and 1.7) but some printers ask for PDF/X-3 (PDF 1.4). I can get around the problem by rasterizing the design before exporting it, but it would be much more convenient to be able to export it directly, of course. Is this a bug in Designer?

I think the settings are correct: I have tested this at a new document and is working, so its not a software problem, it seems a problem with this document. I created this file just one month after the release of Publisher, maybe it drags this problem for this reason. I will go around the problem by creating the text frames manualy. Thank you.

Hello, I am working on the design of a board game and I have found that when exporting the game board in PDF/X-3 format some effects do not export well and also when trying to print the PDF file an error occurs and it does not print. I have overcome the problem by exporting in PDF/x-3 format but checking the option to rasterize everything (then the PDF is correct and can be printed). My doubt is the following; I am interested in the rasterized content not having any loss of quality, that is to say, that it is TIFF at 300dpi, but the export dialog box does not offer me any information about this, in particular I am worried about the option "Allow JPEG compression", does that mean that it is rasterizing the content to JPEG (compressed or not)? I would say no, because if I export the same file to TIFF format, the PDF and TIFF files are almost the same size (59Mb and 52Mb respectively), but I would like to know for sure, I don't want to have any surprises when it comes out of print. Thank you.

I have a 9 or 10 year old windows computer that is starting to go slow (I work mainly with Designer) and I am thinking of renewing it. Regarding the graphics card, in Windows 10, is it worth to add an NVIDIA QUADRO or a RADEON PRO, does anyone have experience with this?. It would be a computer with Windows 10. Thank you.

A few days ago I used the isometric perspective tool to make a mockup of a board game. The result is not bad, but with convergent perspective would be much better. I have created the mockup in a separate document in which I copy and paste from other files the 2D elements of the game (map, cards, counters...), then pass them to isometric perspective using the function fit to plane. For me, the convergent perspective would be very useful even if it was destructive. Does anyone else find it interesting, is there any possibility of having this function in the future?

Replace Symbol functionality
jperalta replied to simonlayfield's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
I have been using Illustrator for a few years to design boardgames, I discovered Designer a month ago and I have tested it designing a boardgame. Replacing symbols is very useful when making counters and cards. It is probably the main tool I miss from Illustrator.
