Yes, I know.  But that extra work doesn't make me all fuzzy inside.  It's faster in Illustrator when you have dozens of objects to modify because there is no "reset to square corners" step.

    Anyway, thank you!

Development of the Affinity apps really does transcend you and me alone.  And in terms of sheer numbers (of users), it transcends Serif as well.  One ideal that logically comes out from all this is that Serif should be democratic about feature expansion and start tallying user VOTES for features with the aim of giving priority.  It should also be asked how many people even want Publisher, and if that desire for Publisher transcends their desire for important feature additions in the apps we already have (Photo and Designer).

It's only fair and reasonable and exceedingly sensible to go about it that way.  Otherwise, Serif is just "shooting in the dark" as to what THEY THINK we really want.  Steve Jobs did that and was very successful, but how many Steve Jobs are in the world or at Serif?  To not tally votes and not give priority to features based on user feedback would be the same as if our elected officials were no longer elected and they just remained in office doing things they THOUGHT we the people would want.  And although Serif is not a democracy or government, voting on feature additions probably would still be a good idea.  And rather than just do it in this forum, hoping that 100% of folks who have purchased Serif apps will come and vote, they should direct-email all of us to garner our opinions.  That way, many more of us would actually vote.

It's unfortunate we don't know the proper way to persuade Serif to "see the light" as we see it.  Donation of a kidney?  Buy someone an energy drink?  Setup a scholarship in the name of their CEO? Promise that we in America will try not to re-elect Trump for a second term?

Seriously, there simply MUST be some way to get development directed in the proper way.  I think development is still happening.  But it's clear they are working on things they feel are important, as opposed to work on things we who have years of experience with Adobe KNOW are important.

    It's very disconcerting.

Nobody is saying linked files are unnecessary. They are a crucial feature for Publisher. They won't be in 1.6, but we will do them eventually. I'm sorry that we can't do it any quicker. It's because we're a relatively small team with a lot of other stuff to do.

I'm glad we agree, and thank you for the screenshot. There's much power in using OS X's Terminal too to accomplish various tasks in OS X, but arguably, it is a less intuitive and sometimes a slower approach that using the GUI. In like manner, fiddling with curves in AP only to eliminate text anti-aliasing is ridiculous.

Serif, please add a text anti-aliasing pop up to AP at the earliest possible time. Thanks.

I know that, I'm just pointing out that the groundwork for linked files already exists and it's functional, it's just not automatic. That seems to be the only part missing?

As I mentioned above, the bulk of the work seems to be done, so let's hope it really is coming in the next version. Along with a Mesh Distort live filter. ;)

I noticed the absence of a Vertical Type feature today when I tested my *.ai files in Affinity Designer.  All the Japanese I created using Illustrator's Vertical Type Tool (tategaki) is changed to horizontal text when the file is opened in AD.

Please add a Vertical Type Tool akin to the one in Illustrator.  Such is not really needed so much for English, but for Japanese and Chinese, it's a must have feature.

When typing text in a Photoshop document, there is a popup available that displays the following anti-aliasing options:
None Sharp Crisp Strong Smooth The addition of these would make Affinity Photo's type handling even more powerful.

    Thanks.

I use Photoshop's Image > Image Size feature all the time, and I must say that the addition of "Image Size" within Affinity Photo's "Resize Document" sheet would be welcomed.  For example, when you change the PPI or dimensions in Photoshop, you see something like this:

    Image Size: 24.5MB (was 64MB)

The key part of that is the "was" part in parenthesis.

    Thanks.

Very strange.  I am testing WHITE text atop a dark gray background, and moving that Blend Gamma slider has no affect whatsoever on the text.  But the Coverage Map does have a visible affect.

Oh my!  Thank you for the tip.  Very power curves indeed.  I wouldn't want to spend hours trying to exactly recreate Photoshop's "Smooth, Crisp, etc" settings, but I do see that the Coverage Map curve gives me power to strip all anti-aliasing away completely, simply by pulling the curve to one of the far corners (making it 90° rather than a curve).

    Thanks.

Since no one knows what the difference is between Lanczos 3 "separable" and "non-separable" may I suggest that Serif put something more meaningful and descriptive into those parenthesis instead?

In my testing, Lanczos 3 (separable) enlargements and reductions a tad sharper than Bicubic, and Lanczos 3 (non-separable) is much sharper.

So I would think the Resample popup should read as follows:
Nearest Neighbor Bilinear Bicubic Lanczos 3 (sharp) Lanczos 3 (sharper) Because, quite honestly, "separable" and "non-separable" may appeal to the left-brainers, but isn't Affinity Photo appealing to our right-brain creative side?  Yes.  So make the descriptions more understandable, please!
