3 pickers in Curves dialog would be great!
Additionally, I wish there was an auto button. Then you could automatically set black and white points and the fine tune them to fit the image. (In Photoshop there is also option to set target colours and clipping values but I find these unnecessary; manual fine tuning anyway negates clipping.)

I would like to be the first to offer support in this thread.
Adding 3 additional colour pickers for whites, mid grey & black to the curves tool would certainly add to the functionality. The facility to change and save the new colours gives the user the ability to use the tool for matching colours from a different image. This will be a big help for compositing. The ability to reset to default white, grey & black is also needed. This gives the tool far more flexibility than just using it to set black & white points.

I posted the following thread 3 years ago but not a single person until today advised me to post that topic in this thread, claiming that no one from Serif diligently reads this forum such that my post was sure to have been overlooked these 3 years.  Seems odd to me, but fine.  Here it is:

I would advise Serif to just move that thread into this thread.  I would prefer that since I don't want to lose all the supportive posts in that thread.  For truly, it is more than just me who wants that dropper tool added to Affinity Photo.

    Thanks.

Hi. Looking for the same here. Now in 2019. I don't see a white point picker anywhere. Or is it hidden somewhere?

And same here:  this is a tool I use(d) a lot in Photoshop.  It's not perfect and it's not "professional", but it is so effective and efficient:  you scan a document or make a photo, the want to print it and the quickest way to get rid of the greyish parts is to use the white picker.  Saves a lot of ink.

Or have a styles panel the gives a list of applied style effects that can be removed or turned off, maybe add these options to the fx panel, transparency and texture.

I just had this very same question. JDW is spot on here - how elusive is this?! Two years on and we still have to use this obscure method to remove transparency. Wouldn't it be so much easier and vastly more intuitive to simply have a Remove Transparency button on the context toolbar?

it's a shame that Serif is concentrating all efforts in ipad apps than resolving basic feature lack in Affinity Photo. I guess Ipad apps are quick money for now, but it's a shame that the real PS replacement dream seems to fade away when important features are missing for such a long time.
so, no text anti aliasing options in Affinity Photo ;(

JDW reacted to Tom Schülke in Import InDesign files
Well as you said, you dont know the idml format ?   This a is format that Indesign can export also to alow transfer of documents in differing indesign programms..   I used this some time to get documents from a more advanced indesign version to an older one, and it worked nearly perfect.

So to say..   IDML would be enough as an import format.   BUT !!!!
We also need the possibility to export Publisher Formats to IDML..  this is very much needed, because very often we have to cooperate with the outer world..  and the outer World is dominated by evil
So please also make export of idml possible..
I Think most of us wouldnt have considered to look at Affinity photo too, if it hadnt been able to import and also export psd files..

I'm glad we agree, and thank you for the screenshot. There's much power in using OS X's Terminal too to accomplish various tasks in OS X, but arguably, it is a less intuitive and sometimes a slower approach that using the GUI. In like manner, fiddling with curves in AP only to eliminate text anti-aliasing is ridiculous.

Serif, please add a text anti-aliasing pop up to AP at the earliest possible time. Thanks.

Are you a designer or programmer?  If the latter, you're in the wrong place.  You are here among VISUAL DESIGNERS.  That means we go with what we see, not with what theory or scientific data says to us.  If something looks sharper to my graphically trained eye (with Photoshop and Illustrator experience that spans the entire life of those products), then IT IS SHARP.

    PERIOD.

JDW got a reaction from nosey_gamedev in What is the difference between Lanczos seperable and non-seperable.
Since no one knows what the difference is between Lanczos 3 "separable" and "non-separable" may I suggest that Serif put something more meaningful and descriptive into those parenthesis instead?

In my testing, Lanczos 3 (separable) enlargements and reductions a tad sharper than Bicubic, and Lanczos 3 (non-separable) is much sharper.

So I would think the Resample popup should read as follows:
Nearest Neighbor Bilinear Bicubic Lanczos 3 (sharp) Lanczos 3 (sharper) Because, quite honestly, "separable" and "non-separable" may appeal to the left-brainers, but isn't Affinity Photo appealing to our right-brain creative side?  Yes.  So make the descriptions more understandable, please!

Serif, for the love of Pete!, the previous posters are in tears!  Please implement graphic LINKING without further delay in Affinity Designer.  It's a crying shame we even have to ask for this important KEY FEATURE.
    Thank you.

The previous post seems to show that relying on a "printer driver" is not always a solution to print booklets in Affinity Publisher.
And for those of you searching desperately in vain for the link, there was none provided.  So I shall remedy that by providing it here:

This is the preferences you should see. The menu set to Miscellaneous so Set Fill to Black and White appears.

I set my shortcut to Ctrl + Shift + X

Note though that there is an alternative (and IMHO better) way of quickly choosing black or white. Use the Swatches panel, rather than the Colour panel.

The advantage is, unlike setting the Colour panel to black and white, any colours you have picked or set in the colour wells, remain there. So four colours (or rather, two colours plus permanent black and white plus transparent) are instantly available to you. Plus of course, you can set your own swatches.
It is possible to set a keyboard shortcut for the Swatches panel, so it instantly appears.
That is also in Miscellaneous but you have to scroll down to find it. It's called "Swatches Page" for some reason.

That instantly brings the Swatches "page" to the front for quick selection of all your colours.
Swatches is actually a much faster way of working because unlike using the Colour panel, where you have to click on the colour panel, then use a shortcut to set the colour wells to black and white, when you click on Swatches (or use a shortcut) black and white is already there, permanently.

@JDW this is Exactly what we meant.
Unfold by clicking the section below and choose miscellaneous, from there you will see the shortcut list will change and you will find the line we talked about and simply follow @hannah steps to setup the thing.
Unfortunately I can't draw things to help you right now,  it's 3AM on my side and reading this using an Android with lower capabilities.
Maybe during the day I will make step by step kind of tuto to help (if no one brought it already)
