AffinityAppMan got a reaction from JulietP in Workarounds for Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort?
LOL, I actually forgot about Adobe until I had a need for a Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort for a vector project I am working on. I never realized I would miss them that much. I am very surprised that Serif has not incorporated these features by now.

Everything working well now with the new 1.8 version of affinity products 😀

AffinityAppMan reacted to MEB in PSD layers problem. Layer content deleted on save
Hi AffinityAppMan,
Yes, hidden layers are now exported to PSD with their contents intact.

I understand that the free script still requires you to have InDesign. Probably the thing to do is to get a one-month single subscription of InDesign, long enough to open and export or use the script to batch export.
Or if you have a very small number of files, I bet some of us who still have InDesign wouldn't mind opening and exporting to IDML for you when you needed them.

Still needs the Free Transform / Perspective Distort - can we know when / where on the roadmap this essential tool is?

AffinityAppMan got a reaction from sheriffderek in Workarounds for Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort?
Off course it takes time,
I am not really complaining. I guess I am very frustrated and disappointed because I really like Affinity Designer and I really want it to be my app of choice for any illustration project I create. This week has been very frustrating when using Affinity Designer without a perspective or warp tool. Since time is of the essence for certain projects, you can see why I feel this way. I have spent so much time trying find a way to work around this and is not easy at times.
That being said, I have been very patient since the beginning of implementing AD into my workflow. I want AD to do well, and I do appreciate all efforts by Serif to keep making the software better.
I know it takes time. That goes without saying.

+42 better from Serif, because Affinity has not much AI yet but perhaps only a fine dream

AffinityAppMan got a reaction from Hewal in Workarounds for Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort?
Any Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort features soon? This year? Any date release? I need to know if I need to change apps.
What is everyone else doing to get around not having Distortion or Perspective distorts in Affinity Designer?
Any tips?

AffinityAppMan reacted to Sean P in UI too small
Hi Jens,
Thanks for letting us know, this is already being dealt with in another post, so I will leave it to that thread. If you do encounter the same issue in all apps just create one post please and just a note saying it affects the other applications please!
Thanks!

AffinityAppMan reacted to mac_heibu in Expand Stoke
Thank you for „re-inventing“ the „Expand Stroke“ command. Seems to work very fine now.
But, what puzzles me: There was so much criticism about this feature and now – no comment, no reaction …

AffinityAppMan reacted to MEB in PSD layers problem. Layer content deleted on save
Hi AffinityAppMan,
This should now be fixed in the upcoming Designer/Photo Customer Betas 1.8. Thanks for your report.

AffinityAppMan reacted to Pariah73 in Affinity Designer 1.8 New features list?
Everything is going to take longer to implement. The Affinity team is smaller by the Adobe team by thousands of people so it's not hard to see that things are going to take longer. At the price point, I'm happy to wait and use my imagination and that of my fellow designers here to use workarounds and incorporate other software into my workflow until Affinity matures, which is going to be a VERY long time from now because (see 2nd sentence). It's not a broken project, it's an immature one, not unlike this conversation. There's always Adobe and Corel and their thousands of employees to help you out if Affinity isn't for you.

AffinityAppMan got a reaction from AndyQ in Vector brushes, export artwork quality???
I agree, it is very misleading to call these vector brushes. Vectors are resolution free that can be used at any size without lost of quality.
This makes vector brushes in AD obsolete in most cases. Not good if you are running an illustration or graphics company that requires real vector brushes to achieve many looks.
I don't think AD vector brushes should be called "VECTOR BRUSHES" if the vector capabilities are not there when it comes to independent resolution at any size. That's what VECTOR is.
This is very disappointing

+1 to image trace. Can't entirely migrate to AD for the lack of just that one feature.

AffinityAppMan reacted to Ozymandias1972 in AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
Hello,
I just recently acquired Designer and am about to get Publisher soon, but wanted to convey that auto trace or some form of improved trace tool on Designer would be a nice thing and super helpful. I've used Illustrator for years and love it but am looking to wean off it away from the subscription model. Serif is doing a great job with the apps especially the iPad Pro version of Designer which I also have.

AffinityAppMan reacted to RiotRob in Designer - Free transform tool (perspective distort)
Really, I appreciate this software and use it as much as I can because I like it. I totally understand the difference in size of company, this is just feedback from my experience and my try to give them a grasp of what people (or in this case, I) use.
I never regretted buying this software because I'm convinced that the monthly payment model sucks, but this also tops off the income stream of Serif. This one tool would just be a much bigger deal for me than previous thought. Nonetheless, I own and use everything professional on Windows and iPad (which is glorious for retouching with Photo for iPad).
So, keep up the good work Serif! (and please don't forget a very pleased customer )
