There's a sequence I used to follow when I used Photoshop that I haven't managed to find the equivalent path for in Photo (I'm sure it's there!)  and I'd really appreciate it if some kind person could point me in the right direction!
In essence, while on holiday I would take one photo with my wife standing to the left of a sign, then get her to take one of me standing to the right of the sign. Then in Photoshop I would combine them to make it look like we were both in the pic, standing each side of the sign. I did this by stacking the two photos as layers in one file, auto-aligning the layers, then creating a mask to "rub-out" the person-less part of one layer, to reveal the other person underneath. Hope that makes sense!
Looking forward mastering this in Photo, as it's a handy thing workaround when there's no-one else around to take a pic of us both, and I use it quite a bit.

not a fan of the font at all. I wouldn't use trite overused typeface in this, it's way too cool for that!

Yes, it's true. The only thing I can say for sure about this image is the fact that it took bloody ages and lots of experimentation.

As a stand alone picture or design it looks fine to me but, it doesn't shout out War of the Worlds to me. There are iconic images that go with the title and there are none of them on display here.  

This is a personal visual meditation on a poem from the Old Testament, Psalm 63. 
I’ve spent a lot of time this summer working through the tools in Affinity Designer  and I am almost at the point where I can use this software comfortably for client-facing work. 
So far I have created (and recreated) a number of info graphics to see how far I can push the software. My current process is to 
1. Biro sketch 
2. Structure in AD with simple shapes. 
3. Bitmap draft drawing in Clip Studio on IPad (the tools I have set up there work the most intuitively for me). 
4. Ink/shade it with the basic brush in AD on iPad. 
5. Some tweaking back and forth between the iPad and Mac versions of AD. The interface is easier on my big screen Mac when it comes to manipulating lots of layers - something I think AD on iPad stills needs some work with. 
Thankyou to the Affinity team for creating a superb set of tools that feel like a dream come true.

Must be a couple of years since my last post, Ive been busy raising kids and other stuff, I decided to load up Designer the last few days to see whats new.  Some software feels so alien when you don't use it for ages, Designer feels like slipping on an old pair of comfy shoes, nice! So here is my efforts.

Works pretty well. The long necktie shape kind of breaks the overall hex-nut feeling for me. It might be too old fashioned, but consider a bow tie instead: bigger hex+smaller hex+bigger hex, all horizontal centered.

Phew. I've just ploughed through the full set of in-house AP video tutorials, done by the most excellent James Ritson. To help me learn and provide a reference, I made personal notes along the way. Here they are, complete with links to each video, in case they may be of help for you. No guarantees and all that.

Since I bought Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer before xmas, I have not been using any of my (many) other paint programs much. There is such a nice natural flowing feel to the Affinity brush engine, especially used together with DAUB's brushtips. Some examples here.
Thanks for great software at a price, poor artists can afford!

WOW!! This is all Vector?!?! If I may, would you be opposed to allowing me to re-create this 3D in Blender, just for practice? This is just over the top! I would make sure to have direct links to your work as well as make certain to have your name highlighted as the artist behind the concept. If I could pull this off, I may be able to finally get hired on at CG COOKIE full time, which is my dream! Please let me know Kev. Thanks, and super astounding work!

Simple composite of a vintage car on a sunset beach. Using imported brushes to enhance headlights. Reflections on windshield, selection from sky, warp tool to stretch over glass, blend modes and opacity reduction, large soft edge brush with mask to blend edges around wind shield.
 

Elegant work, digital_wampa. Would you be opposed to me bringing this character to 3D in Blender just for practice? I would of course credit you and display your art and any links to your portfolio everywhere, making sure everyone knows who the brilliant concept came from.
