Started working on our annual magazine in Bengali, and you know which of my favorite software I could not use for creating it?
This is going on for too long folks. I am not sure why this is not getting enough traction from Serif. As I said earlier, I do understand that there are complexities involved in supporting Indic scripts, but I am sure you have handled other complex situations. What do you need to bring this requirement to the limelight? Adobe's solution was to use a distinct control for Indic scripts in InDesign (the World Ready Composer), can we at least do that in Affinity even if that control is not full featured? Pretty please?

Maybe not a good idea if for no other reason of splitting the applications into yet more separate applications that require yet more development time/resources.
Mainly, these are OpenType features that once added and processed by the Affinity applications present the text runs on the design surface properly. At least for complex LTR scripts. The same for RTL with the addition of handling bidi text runs.
There is nothing to be gained by splitting the applications, only downsides.
I was probably not very clear. Of course the application should not be split, all I am saying is that these features can be introduced in separate releases.

It’s clear to me that neither the “New Serif” nor the “Old Serif” has the in-house knowledge and experience necessary for the provision of full Indic language support. That’s why they had to enlist the help of WinSoft International when they wanted to offer a version of some of the X5 products that allowed the user to work with Urdu and other “Middle East” languages.
Totally understand the complexity involved, even though the details of the complexity may be beyond me. Also fully realize that if it was easy to implement Serif would have done it already. However, since this is a critical requirement for many of Affinity users, my request as before is to expedite the feature if possible. Also, is it possible to decouple Indic script support and RTL support, and have separate releases for them rather than trying to club them together?

Serif needs to prioritize support for Indic scripts. This is the only reason I need to keep using InDesign. Pubisher has all the capabilities I need for our Bengali magazine published from Cleveland, OH except the support for Bengali script. Guys, this has been going on for far too long. Please, please provide support for Indic scripts on a priority, please.
When I saw today the release of Affinity v1.10, my hopes were high that Indic script support will be there. Alas, today was not that day.

Support for Indic scripts is a key feature missing from Affinity products at this point which critically impacts my workflow. I have to jump through a lot of hoops for something that should be as simple as text input. Based on the large number of designers working on Indic languages, I do not imagine this is a problem impacting a small number of users. Affinity is a wonderful suite of products, thanks a lot to the team for giving us this great set of tools! My request to the team is to expedite adding support for Indic scripts if possible. This will help a lot in reducing dependency on other products including CC.

Same3 here. Just purchased the V2 universal license, but no luck. So far I have purchased multiple licenses for each of the V1 products and now V2, but no luck with Indic scripts so far. Still having to use InDesign/Scribus for my work.
