  1. I like the idea of being able to simplify a shape without changing its appearance.
  2. Greetings, Fundindelve. The answer to your question is yes. Affinity can resize photos in centimetres, millimetres, inches, pixels, points, feet, yards, or metres. As for putting a name on each photo, I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but Affinity has extensive text tools if that's what you're asking.
  3. Could you elaborate on what makes their masking tools superior in your opinion? That would make it so the Affinity staff actually know what type of feature you want them to add.
  4. Part of what makes Affinity great is the compatibility of its various apps with one another, so they should definitely make an "Affinity Animator" focused on the task instead of adding those features to apps focused on other things. Rather than taking Designer and tacking on a half-assed animation tool, they should make an app that will actually animate well, which would follow their pattern of making different yet compatible apps. I don't know much about animation, but I feel like it would be better if, after creating your assets in AD, you'd actually do the animation in an application meant specifically for animating those assets. Judging by how AD and AP are able to work so well with one another, this seems a better choice than simply adding a few features to AD and calling it a day.
  5. I agree completely that subtitles are something they need to add to the videos as soon as possible. However, I think this post's title should be something a bit more descriptive than simply saying "Videos" as that is quite ambiguous (many people have requested that AD and AF be made capable of working with animations and video files). "Subtitles for Affinity Video Tutorials" would be clearer. In any case, I am surprised they didn't think of this, but hopefully they will rectify this problem soon.
  6. Artrage has a feature like this, and I definitely think both Designer and Photo would benefit greatly from it, particularly designer as vectors are even more likely to need a certain amount of symmetry than raster images.
  7. Are you sure that's a job for Designer? It looks more like something you'd do in Photo if you ask me.
  8. Recently I've needed to quickly export identical images in various formats, including .pdf, .png, .svg, .jpg, and so on—and also with varying file sizes. Since the image doesn't need to be any different in any way other than file format and resolution, it is unnecessarily time-consuming to always have to readjust the settings every time I edit the file and have to re-export the many versions of the image or to try and manually make a load of identical slices. It would be much easier if I could duplicate a slice and then adjust the duplicate slice's export options. That would mean I could quickly create five-or-so slices of the same dimensions and position—just with differing export options, and then make edits to the image and just export simultaneously in different formats, but with the same area of the image being exported.
  9. I just made this image illustrating how midpoint displacement could work with AD's corner tool: I think that even outside of mapmaking, the ability to make rough, jagged lines quickly would be really useful.
  10. Well, that's a relief. If this were added to Affinity, I'm sure it would be even more useful than the obvious point of more efficient vectors; the idea just struck me that if Designer someday added functionality for 3D meshes, 2D vector networks might allow the app to offer seamless transition between 2D and 3D graphics.
  11. They intend on adding a new trace persona for this sort of thing, but they say that it will take quite a while before they can do this.
  12. Agreed. As you say, I think it would be very useful in many situations. I'll just upload a comparison visual I've made that I think highlights both the versatility and improved look using midpoint displacement.
  13. That looks great! I think this should definitely be added to Affinity. I know that Affinity probably wouldn't have that greyscale bug if they implemented this feature, but even if it were unavoidable, I think one might be able to use frequency separation and linear light to apply the newfound detail to the original colour image.
  14. I think your idea would make it easier to make a custom palette that works in the same way as the default ones. I haven't really done much work with palettes (I generally just use the colour wheel), but it sounds like it would be useful when trying to find the exact midpoint between to different colours.
  15. I just found another post that asked how to do this, and having seen the answer I now realize that this post is now quite void.
  16. I've been having the same problem, and now I see someone else has already asked this question. I'm glad I don't have to wait till the next update, then!
  17. Ever since canvas rotation was added, I've lost count of how many times I've had to reset the rotation after having accidentally rotated the view. Although it is good to be able to view an image at different angles while editing, it can get frustrating to constantly rotate the view when all you're trying to do is zoom in or out. I think that there should be an option to lock rotation so you don't accidentally rotate the view. This would make things a lot easier for me, as it seems every time I zoom in, my image ends up askew and I have to reset rotation before I can get on with my work.
  18. I know that Campaign Cartographer 3, although its AutoCAD interface is clunky and its export capabilities laughable, has a function where you can snap a node to a curve. it gave me the idea that even if vector networks end up patented, AD might be able to get around this by simply adding a feature that locks two snapped nodes together so that—for all intents and purposes—they function as one node unless they are unlocked.
  19. I agree, although some similar suggestions have already been made. The idea of doing so around the axis of a shape would be extremely useful.
  20. Some of the vector work I've already done could have been made quite a bit easier by intersection snapping, although I think in most situations it would be more useful to be able to snap to the line itself (at least in the work I do).
  21. Artrage has quite a useful tool for symmetry that allows you to set the number of segments, although as Artrage is an app for realistic painting I don't use their symmetry much. A symmetry tool in Affinity Designer, however, would make it far easier to create perfect vector shapes. Therefore I think it would be a great feature to have.
  22. Thanks again for your suggestion. However, I'm not looking for a workaround, though yours is interesting—I have one already. The problem is that any workaround that requires you to use a multitude of different applications for such a relatively simple purpose is very time-consuming and potentially expensive. Also, using vectors with midpoint displacement—like I'm suggesting—gives you complete control over the final coastline, whereas the perlin noise method is random. I'm not a programmer by any means, but from what I've read, midpoint displacement is quite a simple algorithm, and it sounds like it wouldn't be very difficult to implement—and the rewards would be great. This is why I'm putting this forth as a feature request.
