  1. IDMarkz will do exactly that, enable you to open your CS3 InDesign documents in Affinity Publisher. It does so by converting the INDD files to IDML and opening the IDML in Affinity Publisher, but that's all done with a simple click of a button. But, "without problems" is a bit subjective. In many cases you'll need to make minor updates to the document to handle the differences in the apps. Things like text flow will be different, you may need to adjust text boxes. The vast majority of conversions will get you 95%+ of the way to your final document. IDMarkz Product Page
  2. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear, but the promo code "IDMSE" is for the release of the Windows version, I'll update my post.
  3. You're right, IDML import is probably a better option than the PDF import. Keep in mind that even the IDML import will likely require some updates in Publisher. If you're looking for a long-term IDML solution, you can take a look at IDMarkz, which can convert your old CS3 documents to IDML and open those in Publisher directly, without InDesign. IDMarkz is sold as both a macOS and Windows application. And can be purchased with a perpetual (forever) or subscription (annual) license. It's not free, but for $149, you can have peace of mind knowing that you can quickly convert any of your existing InDesign files to Affinity Publisher. Use Promo Code IDMSE for 15% off through January 2022. IDMarkz SE for Windows product page IDMarkz for macOS product page Comparison page
  4. We've found that many users use IDMarkz to use InDesign Templates (indt) in Affinity Publisher. InDesign has been around forever, so there are tons of free and paid templates out there for it. Most of the templates will be in indt format, which Affinity Publisher isn't able to open. IDMarkz can convert those files to IDML and open them in Affinity Publisher. IDMarkz is sold as both a macOS and Windows application. And can be purchased with a perpetual (forever) or subscription (annual) license. 5. Gary, that's the exact reason we (Markzware) developed IDMarkz (macOS and Windows). It's a stand-alone application that will convert INDD files to IDML, which can then be opened in Affinity Publisher (or other 3rd party applications). IDMarkz SE for Windows can also be configured to automatically convert, and open files dropped on it in Affinity Publisher in one step. IDMarkz is sold as both a macOS and Windows application. And can be purchased with a perpetual (forever) or subscription (annual) license. 6. I wanted to reach out to let you guys know that we've released IDMarkz SE for Windows. We released IDMarkz for macOS just over two years ago. Since that initial release, we've been getting requests for a Windows version. It's taken longer than expected, but I'm happy to announce that we now have a Windows application. The Windows and macOS products do differ [IDMarkz for macOS vs. IDMarkz SE for Windows], but they both serve the same purpose, moving InDesign files (INDD) to other applications, including Affinity Publisher. Use Promo Code IDMSE for 15% off of IDMarkz SE for Windows through January 2022 Disclaimer: I'm a software engineer at Markzware, the company behind IDMarkz. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
  7. A Windows version is in the works. I'll be sure to post here as soon as we have a beta available. You can also signup for IDMarkz product updates. Also, just found out we're starting our Black Friday sale early, 20% off with coupon code FRIDAY2020. Link to IDMarkz purchase options.
  8. Thanks for the plug @AdrianB. Any of you guys on a Mac looking for a way to convert your native InDesign files to Affinity Publisher (through IDML), IDMarkz, might be the tool you need. As many of you have mentioned, this can be done using InDesign, but if you're looking for a long-term solution that makes the process seamless, check out this video showing how simple the conversion process is. The video shows the process with an older version of Publisher, but the current version will convert using an IDML rather than PDF. We'll be running a 10% off promotion from November 15, 2020 through January 31st, 2021. The usual price for a IDMarkz perpetual license (buy once, and own forever) is $149. This link will take the price down to $135. The usual price for a IDMarkz 1-year subscription (I know subscriptions aren't for everyone) is $99. The promo price will be around $89. Disclaimer, I work for Markzware as a software engineer, I might be biassed. 😅 UPDATE use coupon code FRIDAY2020 for 20% off, early Black Friday deal!
  9. Yes, of course. If there are any major issues, as there were with your previous file, please send a document in with some details of the problem. https://markzware.com/support/ticket/
  10. Alex, I just wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that we've released an update with the fix for your file. We also added some other features, made some improvements, and squashed some bugs. You can view the release notes for more information and download the update.
  11. Thanks Alex. We received your file this morning and I took a look at it. I see what your talking about. We have to update our conversion to handle some text wrapping settings in the master page that we hadn't run across before. I appreciate you sending us the file so we can improve our conversions. We should be able to get an update out early next week.
  12. Hey Alex, I'm glad you found the issue. Would it be possible for you to send us your INDD file? I'd like to take a look at it and see if it's a problem with our conversion, the way that Publisher is handling the IDML, or just something with your particular file. If it's something with our conversion we'll fix it. If it's a problem with how Publisher is handling the IDML, we can pass the information along to Affinity. Or if it's just something odd with your particular file we can give more info. Both us, Markzware, and Affinity are constantly improving the conversion and importing of IDML so these odd issues are interesting to us when they arise. If you don't mind, you can upload the file through our support form, https://markzware.com/support/ticket/, and mention that Eddie asked you to upload the file.
  13. Thanks for making sure it got in the right places Patrick.
  14. In these unique times, we want to help users transitioning to and from other DTP applications. We know that many designers are having to make budget cuts, and many are moving from Adobe to Affinity. We want to help you guys move your existing work to Publisher. So, we are giving away the full version of IDMarkz for usage through the end of May 2020. This is not the freebie version that locks out the IDML export; it's the full version with all features enabled. There are no charges or signups required to take advantage of this; it's how we feel we can help during these unprecedented times. If you are already using the freebie version of IDMarkz you can use the following license details to activate the full version to be used through May 2020: Email Address: doingourpart@markzware.com License ID: bf2f3a43-8466-4861-b5e6-2e0e00e4ac83 If you don't have the freebie, you can get all the information you need to get started here. Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues. We'll be monitoring how this pandemic affects those in our industry, and we may extend the free usage beyond May 2020. Sorry Windows users, I can't give a timeline, but we are actively working on a Windows version.
