Hilltop reacted to StuartRc in Seamless Style
A bit vague...Sorry!
I worked on some of these as grunge comic overlays. The originals are on artboard 01. I just recoloured the base container to red. Export as PNG.
In the assets are the 4 files. Just drag the asset to the fill swatch on the context bar and rescale using fill tool on selected rectangle on artboard 3
The containing rectangle controls the scale | seamless; The pattern the effect...good for vintage comic overlays. The originals are here

Hilltop reacted to GRAFKOM in Add a tick icon to the Rulers popup menu. Windows 11
Affinity is starting to take shape better and better.
I would also suggest introducing a bird icon in the place where the beams meet the guides.
By right-clicking a pop-up menu pops up and shows the units in which the project can be.
I know that in Mac the current unit is checked, while in Windows this check mark is not displayed.
These stamps appear, for example, in the top menu.
So add that and Affinity keeps getting better and better for the job.

Hilltop reacted to No more PS in Fonts: own categories for fonts, more than only "recent" and "favorits"
I would love to have the ability to create own categories for fonts and to assign my fonts to these categories.
Maybe I'm not the only one with a ridiculous amount of fonts . I design crafting paper sets for different themes and need several fonts for different purposes. For example I would create a category for handwritten fonts, for romantic fonts, for bold gothic fonts, and so on. Because of the vast amount of fonts (and no, I really don't want to miss one of them ) I have to go through the 100m long list of fonts, that are sortet alphabetically. I love that I can see what the fonts look like, but if I find a good one, I would like to assign it to a category for later reuse. And it would be great, if I could assign each font to more than one category. As this kind of thing is database based, it shouldn't be so hart to built this, I hope.
To the Affinity team: I love that you listen to the users. Many of the new changes in the actual beta version are things that used to annoy me, to. And I'm glad, you made it all better, this saves much time and a lot of klicking

Hilltop reacted to v_kyr in Some Easter Assets
Some Affinity Designer v.1.10.5 based Easter Stuff vector assets. - Note: the assets are compound of unlocked, grouped vectors, thus when moving, resizing etc. inside docs, make sure to always select the outer group layer.

Hilltop reacted to DonkeyWorx in Free Vector Brushes
Just released a new Affinity Designer Edition of our free brush pack. Many brushes have been updated and optimized for use with Affinity. I've even thrown in some new brushes just for good measure.
If you're an existing DonkeyWorx subscriber and haven't received the email with the free update link please check your spam filter or contact me.
New users can download from here as before - https://www.donkeyworx.com/toolbox/free-brush-pack.shtml
Enjoy.

Hilltop got a reaction from PaulEC in Vraag
Wim, take a look at the various bug threads in these forums, including those dealing with bugs in the beta version. If you read through them, you'll see that the Affinity staff are working hard to deliver the best possible software and are quite receptive to users' constructive feedback and input. They even apologize if bugs cause us problems or if desired features are not (yet) present!

Hilltop reacted to Tim France in Scripting
Hi folks,
I thought I'd give you a quick progress update and let you see some of things we've been working on at Serif Labs. We now have a scripting core that we're reasonably happy with and have put together a little test area where we can run Javascript code, so I thought I'd show you some of that. Things to note:
This is all VERY early, like pre-pre-pre-alpha. The JS API is extremely fluid and is constantly changing. This is not how the Affinity suite will run scripts and plugins; it is just a sandbox window for internal testing. There is still a huge amount of work to be done. I can't provide any timescales for when scripting will be publicly released, for Beta or Retail. Constructive feedback is welcomed, but I won't be able to answer all questions - see previous points. I'm not claiming any of these examples are particularly useful on their own; they're just to demonstrate some basic scripting functionality. Re Javascript async - yes, we support it, I've just not recorded anything yet. The sleep calls are there for screen-recording purposes only. Here are some demos as low-res gifs. If you want to take a closer look, movs are attached.

Hilltop reacted to TonyB in Scripting
Affinity will support Javascript and also have a 'C' based API binding interface that people can use to write plugins. We will also have the ability to create UI to support their scripts and plugins with dialogs and panels.
We have a team developing this but the amount of work is very large so unfortunately users will need to be patient.

Hilltop got a reaction from johnyoungphotos in How do I create preset from an existing document ?
After you saved your new preset, click 'Create' at the bottom of the 'new' dialog. With the new document created, you can now save it as a regular Affinity document.

Hilltop got a reaction from Cuando in I don't like the new UI design
Funny thing, for me it's the opposite. I like the new UI better but hope for further improvements (e.g., buttons for the studio panels and more right-click context options).

Hilltop got a reaction from walt.farrell in One click placement
I'm not sure why you would need a one-click approach but perhaps this is useful: First create a picture frame the size of the canvas, you then only have to open the image file with the Place Image Tool to have it fill the canvas automatically.

Hilltop got a reaction from PaoloT in Previewing Resources
The main Affinity documents can be previewed in browsers but the various resources not. It would be nice to be able to preview afbrushes, afasset, afonts, and afstyles files in the various browsers. It seems that at this point these files do not have embedded thumbnails that could be accessed by browsers.

Hilltop reacted to Jose Alvarez in I don't like the new UI design
The new V2 UI is more likely in some aspects (like monochromatic icons, I like it) but in others are a lot worse. For example, that icons to select type of paragraph alignment or table cell strokes. I upload 2 examples,
V1 version:
V2 version:
In V2 version is almost indistingible what are you selecting. I must move back and front my laptop screen and my head, like a little owl!
In both versions, anyway, when you select a field to fill with a value, the blue remark around the field box is so small that is dificult to see. It must to be very evident what field are you selecting.
I encourage our Affinity friends to fix that little things that do the Affinity Experience a bit (or very) dissapointing.

Hilltop reacted to Ash in Paste inside picture frame
Apps: Publisher
Platforms: Windows, macOS and iPad
With a picture frame selected, pasting inside will now insert your clipboard contents to be held within the picture frame rather than being clipped by it. Also if you have your insertion target set to inside and you paste normally with a picture frame selected the same will happen.

Hilltop reacted to walt.farrell in Why is there no Artboard option in affinity Photo like in affinity Designer?
I think it is unlikely that Serif will add support to Photo for creating Artboards directly.
Photo is oriented toward working on single images. Designer is more oriented to the work you're trying to do, I think, and has Artboards to facilitate that kind of work.
