But it has the Photo Persona, and the Photo Persona of the Photo application supports them. It is thus a missing function in the Photo Persona of Publisher which logically could/should be there.

Hilltop reacted to G13RL in How to turn a picture into a puzzle?
    Hello @Pyanepsion,
For a very small puzzle, I proceed as follows: after creating the pieces individually and assigning them a slight 3D fx, I place a copy of the photo inside each of them.
It's then possible to move one of the pieces.
If I want a ghost image of the moved piece, I duplicate it before moving it, remove the 3D fx and reduce its opacity.
For the background, I place a very light grey square under the pieces.
I've attached a very simple example of four pieces, with and without ghost image.
I'm well aware that this method can't be used for large puzzles, as it requires a lot of manipulation, but I'm just adding my voice to the discussion.

Thanks for you patience in waiting for a reply, and sorry it has taken so long. I was waiting for us to be ready with some actual proof of our process (see beta forums)
The 2.2.0 beta cycle will add new features yes. 2.1.0 beta was run quite strictly, in terms of only actually releasing to customers when we thought most of the significant reported regressions over the previous version (2.0.5) were addressed. Bugs reported since we released 2.1.0 are considered for inclusion in 2.1.x or 2.2.0. As a result of this process we have now fixed the reported regression deemed safe to address without a long beta cycle in 2.1.1. That beta will be made public if nothing new is found. We are then likely to move onto 2.2.0 beta but will consider any regressions reported against 2.1.1 for a patch 2.1.2 (if needed)
Long standing bugs are therefore far more likely to be addressed in 2.2.0 than in 2.1.x because we are only really fixing regressions over the earlier release in 2.1.x now

I'm sorry, but this post is completely unacceptable here on the Affinity Forums, @Red Sands and therefore I have hidden this.
You have every right to request a change in the UI for accessibility reasons, but you cannot interweave this with personal attacks towards other users.
Please see rule 1 in our Guidelines.
You do not get to decide who can and can't participate in threads here on the Affinity Forums, as you a not a moderator or member of Affinity Staff.
I also suggest that your improvement requests or criticisms regarding the apps UI are posted in their own, relevant thread.
I appreciate OP has mentioned the Brush Studio improvements in their original post but as this thread is not specifically feedback regarding the UI readability, it is deserved of it's own thread, where it can be discussed separately.
Continuing to post in this way may result in your account being removed.
    Thanks for your understanding.

A few years ago someone shared a very nice set of Styles in this section of the Forums.  The file was apparently created using version 1.6 of one of the Affinity trio. This week @Myke discovered that this file will not import correctly into any of the three V.2.0 or V.2.1 apps.  I recreated this file using Photo V. 2.0.3, and then successfully imported it into Photo/Publisher/Designer V.2.1.0.   For fun I added an additional Style 34 with a name instead of a style number, just to see what happens if one uses one of the styles (I used 33) and then fiddles with Curves Adjustments.  Amazing what one can do by changing the red, blue, and green sliders.  It should be deleted if you want the correct styles category.
Hope this helps anybody who downloaded the original .afstyles file and has now upgraded to V2!

I've always been attracted to Art Nouveau imagery, particularly that of the brilliant Alphonse Mucha, who is largely accredited for starting that appealing type of graphic art. I wanted to wrap my mind around the specific aspects of the craft of which this practice drawing is the first attempt. I plan to do more Art Nouveau all vector drawings in the future, unlike this image that contains both vector and bitmap embedded files. Technically this image is some sort of blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the latter being the successor of the first art movement, I guess.

Hilltop reacted to maxen in UI - better recognizability for active tools in dark theme
While the active tool is sufficient recognizable in the light tool, the dark theme lacks this abilitiy. The simplest solution for the monochrome theme would be just to colorize the active tools icon. Make it blue as the in AD, purple in AP and orange in APub. That way one would subliminal know which program is in use when constantly switching between them.
For the colored theme show a thin frame around the icon in the programs color. That's it. Would have a massive impact in terms of usability.

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update. For the macOS release, in the application main menu there is an option "Check for Updates". Alternatively, you can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Updates are installed automatically (or manually by installing the new version over the old) Previous builds do not need uninstalling first. New installations of paid software downloaded from the Affinity Store requires LICENSE ACTIVATION to use.
Software downloaded from the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and iPad store do not require a license activation and are updated through the relevant store:
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
If you’ve purchased from the Pad Store— Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

I can't be the first one to think of or suggest this (i only did one quick forum search), but it would be more than awesome to be able to have a secondary studio panel for lesser used panels that operates like the ipad version, where click the icon to show the panel, and it auto collapses once you click off of using it. Even using the ipad side bar offset from the main studio panels.
    Something like the screenshot.

Hilltop reacted to MikeTO in Suggestion for the text frame content scaling icon
I thought about it some more but any shape that makes it more prominent would be distracting which is likely why Serif kept it clean. I don't want something too obvious or in a bright colour distracting, especially for a feature I wish I could turn off.
Here's a better idea. Leave the handle the way it is but change the mouse pointer. Currently you get the same resize cursor for scaling the frame and scaling the contents so it's easy to make a mistake. For example:

I suggest changing the content scaling mouse pointer instead. This mockup might not be great—it's a hodgepodge of two existing cursors—but you'd know you were doing something different if you accidentally grabbed the wrong handle. And yet it wouldn't clutter up the screen like changing the shape of the handle would.

Since it's now possible to have multiple instances of layer effects, wouldn't it be nice to have a checkbox for a global angle for those multiple effects? And wouldn't it be even nicer to have an independent offset value to change the angle based on that global angle?
Currently it's quite annoying to change the angle for multiple effects on a complex layer effect.

Added some sample of the of the latest brush sets. [improve seamless textures and do a bit more work on re-formatting the original texture paint set]

This one is a bit more complicated as it involves improvements to several existing brush sets and the formatting of 2 new sets
    A. Project Brush 29 Grass
    B. Project Brush 30 Comic Grunge Pattern
    C. Project Brush 19 Inker Base set samples
    D. Vector Comic Dot asset conversions

and Extension of Project Brush 17 Concept Painter

I added a sample brush set to experiment with. This one is a bit different as it contains 20 raster brushes assembled from 5 different sets. But the base textures are included so each brush can be adjusted with a different pattern

    Contents
20 Pattern Brushes (Raster) [Pattern Painter.afbrushes]
25 Additional .PNG files to exchange in a brush (Duplicate the set if you wish to preserve original without re-loading)
    2. Sample Multi-layer symbols (Simplified these as can sometimes have over 20 layers)

So my good buddy calls me says I need a CD/album cover in like a few days. Apparently, as we artists are the last to learn there's been all sorts of contemplations that the designer is only privy to after significant procrastination. Then come to find out that a late night decision the release is to be under their newly independent label.
This has no effect on my process.
I've done many graphics for the band, and even played in a side band or two with em. So yes, of course I'm in.

The title track is a Burt Bacharach cover, so the idea was to make the 'album' cover appear as a dusted out 70's LP, replete with the 'I've been sitting in Mom's basement' look. Here's the final.

This is the first time I've used Affinity Suite exclusively for a project like this. Just wanted to share. The suite works well, glad to do a full project with it. Thanks.

Hilltop reacted to philipt18 in Publisher - Adding a new chapter to a book - create the file as an option
Unless I'm missing something, it seems like the only option when creating a book is to have separate publisher files for each chapter, and then adding those files to the book as chapters. The problem is when I'm first creating the book, if I don't yet have files for the chapters, then I need to create those files, including any custom trim sizes, margins, etc. Why not allow adding a blank chapter with the same file settings as the current file? This would allow one to rapidly create chapter files, preserve master pages and trim, and just add text to each file and then move on to the next chapter. I'd even suggest being able to add a set number of chapters all at once and just number the chapter files - i.e. generated Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, etc.

Looks better but not really a lot. I still have to think for a second what the icon means. The padlock was much better. The question is also, why use the padlock icon in the layers panel and something else elsewhere? Consistency in the use of symbols is essential to make the app feel intuitive.
