If not, where can I go for tutorials or similar?
I just saw that there's a sale going on for Affinity Designer tutorials here: https://www.udemy.com/affinity-designer-the-complete-guide-to-affinity-designer/. I've no experience with this company but the package and the price look pretty good.

Thanks for the templates, v-kyr, much appreciated!

"at a later(?) date" as in "not clear when that would be"?

-
Bookmarks are not yet possible but will be included at a later (?) date.

Did you try to right-click the layer in the layer panel and select 'Ungroup' (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G)?

On a related issue, can anyone tell me what makes an Adjustment different to a Filter and why something is one and not the other?
The Help gives me this:
“...adjustments which can be applied to your photo as a new layer for corrective or creative purposes”
“Filters can be applied to layers within your document for corrective or creative purposes”
It seems like adjustments are applied as new non-destructive layers onto an existing layer but filters are applied destructively to the original layer, but live filters seem to act like adjustments in that they are non-destructive. Is this the whole difference or have I missed something?I also find this confusing.

Glad it now works for you.

I take it that you export your publication to PDF. In the export setting, (File/Export/Export Settings) select "All Pages" in the Area box (and not "All Spreads"). Issuu will present it in booklet form.
-
True, but it seems an essential feature in publishing software.

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, I saw the other thread and posted in it. I wonder why the developers are not pitching in to explain their approach to this issue.
-
Looking at Fixx's example in that thread, I understand his argument and I mentioned this in my earlier post: "Only make sure that graphics do not border the fold."
But, in those cases that they do, if you set the inner bleed to 0 in APub, how would you allow for enough space for cutting variances?
Just hoping to learn...
-
Why would you want to export the publication as pages (not spreads) and have the inner bleed set to 0 for facing pages?
-
In Designer I would place a color-filled rectangle behind a transparent text frame and then group the two so both can be resized if necessary and the background color can be changed.

Works beautifully, firstdefence, thank you!

That must have taken you some creative planning and execution! Kudos!

Publisher gives me only two options:
- General bleed which is used for every page
- Facing pages with no bleed in the fold, but it also exports as double-pagesWhen you have a set up with facing pages and want to export to PDF, select 'All Pages' (instead of 'All Spreads') from the 'Area' dropdown in the 'Export Settings' dialog. This will automatically add bleed (taken from the opposite page) to the fold-side of the opposite page. Only make sure that graphics do not border the fold.

.... but hoping for more pixel based & management options like Photoshop has.
I'm sure that is in Affinity's planning.

I responded too quickly...

It might have to do with the APub version as the Windows version lists grouped font families.

There is no "Fill Tool" that I can see? There's Flood Fill Tool (with no pattern support) and Gradient Tool, Gradient allows the application of a bitmap tiled texture to a vector object. If that's what you were trying to describe, I already pointed out that it exists and it's not what's being asked for here. AF lacks the ability to work with vector tiles and cannot paint with patterns, manage them effectively nor use them outside of a bitmap applied to a vector shape, which is cumbersome for many tasks.
I must have misunderstood you, I thought you were mentioning the absence of a tool to tile images in a shape: "There's no easy way (that I've found) to automatically tile an image inside an Affinity Photo workspace outside of a vector shape fill, nor to paint with one as a seamless pattern with a pixel brush."

but I suppose ‘Clip Canvas’ is meant to clip the canvas to the image rather than t’other way around.)
Thanks for the unclipping tip. Indeed, clipping after unclipping doesn't return the canvas size to its original dimensions as it has now taken on the size of the picture.
