@Hilltop - didnt know that! Ill definitely check this!
Other than that it would be awesome to have this kind of recording built in.
But it is built in. You only have to select it as the desired option. You may not want to save the history of all the designs you're working on. Don't forget that indefinitely saving a document's history can really balloon the file size.

Hilltop, I tried your suggestion, and unfortunately it did not work. I tried disabling and re-enabling the master pages, and the headers corrected themselves, but the page margins remained stubbornly wrong. Resolution of this issue will have to await an update to the program.
What I should have added is to first remove the master page(s) from the affected pages and then reapply it/them.

is this the wrong way to compose a page?
should my page items be outside the layer named "Master A"?
Perhaps this section of the Help file may be helpful: https://affinity.help/publisher/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Pages/masterPages.html?title=Master pages

I would publish two versions, one color and one gray. Extract the pages needed from the gray version and replace the corresponding color pages. You would just need any pdf editor capable of removing/replacing the pages.
That's what stokerg suggested but with one caveat: "But when you Publish as PDF I don't how that would be treated."

I've always thought of Studio Link as enabling me to do those tweaks that it's a pain to go back and load up Photo or Designer to do but for things that require more work wouldn't it make more sense to open the image in Photo to complete?
For more elaborate work in Photo or Designer, go to File/Edit in Photo or File/Edit in Designer. It will open your document in either program. Once you're done, select File/Edit in Publisher and you're right back. Easy peasy. :-)

This one is a deal breaker. The program is not useful for trade novel layouts when it has a bug this serious. There are lots of others, but I managed to find workarounds for most of them. For this one, the only workaround is to go page by page and reset the margins. And then another page insertion (or deletion) might undo everything again.
This issue has been reported before. The problem seems to be that when adding a page not only the page content moves over a page but also the master page formatting and contents. This definitely needs to be corrected. What might work in such a case is to select, in the Pages panel, all pages that were affected, right-click and reapply the correct master page(s).

One reason I have stopped using Affinity Photo for bitmap illustration is the no-tilt bitmap brushes, at least I can not find it...
You can use the left and right arrow keys to tilt the brush. Does that help?

Glad you got it sorted.

I try to work with Publisher 1.7.1 however, it is practially impossible. As soon as I click on any layer it freezes completely. Reproducible. Also, after some manipulation of graphics, it freezes. I can save (as long as I do not touch the layers) the graphics, but immediately afterwards it freezes.
Are you aware that the latest build is 1.7.2.471? It resolved a lot of stability issues. Also make sure that the other Affinity apps are also updated to this release number.

This is a feature I would really like to see added, but not as much as a way to export & import multiple selected categories in a single step. As it is now, for those of us that own all 3 apps, it is a real PITA to set up each of them so that they all have the same categories in the same order.
Including StudioLink's personas in Affinity Publisher, that is 5 separate sets of brush categories -- 2 sets of vector brushes & 3 sets of pixel brushes, each of which could have different categories with a different number of brushes in each of their categories in different orders.
What would be really great is a separate companion app that could manage all this in one place, with features like finding identical brushes regardless of category, bulk renaming of identical categories or brushes, syncing categories across all the apps, etc. Even just a way to create a list of brush names in a hierarchic layout would be a good start, sortable by app, vector or raster brush type, category, etc., & exportable as tab or comma separated text for importing into a spreadsheet app.
+ 1!

Are you sure you have selected the Brush Tool? When you select any tool, the corresponding context toolbar will show.

Thank you, Walt, I'd forgotten about that.

Apologies, I misread your post. Yes, it was only meant as a workaround and it does have certain drawbacks such as not being to change the fill color anymore. I haven't tried to use it as an inline object in a text frame.

... to achieve this effect you can place a rounded rectangle shape behind your written text.
Or create a rounded rectangle, fill it with color, right-click it and convert it into a text frame, and add your text.

Thanks for the styles. I especially like the spill styles!

You can find such textures by Googling: transparent wire mesh texture (or something to that effect).

Aha, I see. Would indeed be a nice feature.
