Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.3.5.4)

Matt, FYI, I also use the 3 finger drag, but I don't get any errors like @Garytagreg does... -
Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.3.5.4)
ronnyb replied to MattP's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
It's working fine on my version of El Capitan in AD/AP... but the Gesture Preference is missing in El Cap; perhaps its now default behavior...? -
Would it be possible to add a modifier to temporarily override the default gesture for zoom (pinch)? Also, could you add support for the Rotate, two finger turn, gesture? I would like to scale and rotate a selected object using gestures on my trackpad.... When the Rotate Canvas feature comes online, that could be mapped to a modifier + rotate gesture... Thanks for adding support for and improve on default Mac OS conventions...

I worked on the Canvas 6 packaging when I was freelancing for one of my professors in undergraduate design school, back when it was owned by Deneba, out of Miami, FL. They were doing vector and raster in one app, and it had some very neat features, but we did all the packaging and graphics work in Illustrator, Photoshop and Quark (no Indesign back then)... Funny seeing it resurrected, lol...

Hey Andrew, I tried to click on the little + icon at the bottom of System Prefs > Language and Region try to add English-US, not the English-English, and System Prefs consistently crashes. Perhaps it's a new El Capitan bug, and not an issue with AD/AP? Anyway, thanks for looking into it. Great job on the apps!

Try this: 1. In Character > Position and Transform, click once on the tilt (T°) slider until it appears. Do not drag. 2. Switch apps using Cmd+Tab or the Dock, it malfunctions both ways, the slider does not disappear. Thanks for looking into this. UPDATE: This little bug sucks 100% CPU according to Activity Monitor.
-
I have mentioned this before a few times and it's still in the betas: The Character > Position and Transform values for Tilt and Baseline shift are inverted. Positive values should RAISE the baseline shift, not lower it. Positive values should tilt the character FORWARD, not backward. Both of these are counterintuitive. Thanks for your consideration.

Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.3.5.4)

Matt, I use the three finger tap-and-drag as well on my MBP's trackpad. It is SUPER easy and allows one to select+drag AND be able to pick up the three fingers, move them on the trackpad (when you run out of room), and continue with the same select+drag gesture as if you never released. It's like clicking or tapping on the trackpad, but instead, a simple 3 finger drag begins the operation... I think they hid this gesture in El Capitan, I can't find it in the Trackpad's System preferences, but I could swear it was there in previous OS. It's a 3 finger gesture, but I forget what it's called... I have ALL the gestures turned on for my trackpad, if that is of any help. -
UK English is the default for Macs in the UK, but for Macs in the US, it's obviously US English... Anyway, glad you were able to reproduce and logged. Have a great day, mate!

BUG: AP 1.3.5.4 - Broken selection functionality
ronnyb replied to ronnyb's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
Miguel, so I went to clean up the file before sending it out and now t's working normally :/ The elements I could not select previously or find with the Find in Layer Panel… command are part of a group that is masking a placed image. As soon as I pull it out from it's clipping role, I can find the element in the Layers panel normally... I'll see if this happens again, but I'm inclined to say it was user error :/ -
BUG: AP 1.3.5.4 - Broken selection functionality
ronnyb replied to ronnyb's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
No that definitely wasn't it, I Cmd + clicked a bunch of times but I could not get through... I think it has to do with the fact that it was a Group which was a clipping mask... but I'm not sure... In any case the only work around I found is to pull the group out manually via the layer stack, then do the changes, then drag and clip it to it's original location in the layer hierarchy... -
Yeah, like if it showed the current distance from the ruler origin, in a hovering and clickable text field, editable for changing the numerical position of the guide, without having to go into the Ruler palette... that WOULD be sweet!

Random jump when given a nudge
ronnyb replied to Gear maker's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
I got this one again as well, I was moving / nudging a few objects and then they all went all over the page. I tried to undo but it wouldn't place them to their original location... -
BUG: AP 1.3.5.4 - Broken selection functionality
ronnyb replied to ronnyb's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
Thanks Miguel! I poked around some more and the objects are clipped (or clipping, I don't have the file open at the moment...) inside another Layer; once I drag the group out in the layers panel I can select the objects. I really wish there was a way to access objects without having to unclip / unnest them, do the edit, and then re-clip / re-nest. Definitely feels like a workflow stopper... -
My default language is US English, but the last 2 AD/AP betas show British English on the UI, even when the Language Preferences setting is set to Default (which I assume refers back to the setting in the OS X's System Prefs...)
