  1. Hello MikeTO, thank you for your very fast response and your proposal for fixing the problem. And YES, IT WORKED! NO MORE CRASHES! Thanks a lot! Karl
  2. I just updated Publisher to 2.1.0 and regret it a lot. It is crashing every view moments, I can't save the work, recovery file opening doesn't recover the work done before the crash and many tools and commands from V1 are missing or at different positions. This is really frustrating. After installing V2 on my Mac mini (Intel, 16 GB RAM) it crashed only a few times. The many crashes (everey few seconds) occured after using the duplicate command repeatedly with a vector object. Best, Karl
  3. Hello David in Яuislip With "Try creating a new document then do Document/Add Pages from File, Sometimes you can recover it, sometimes you can't. Good luck" you saved my life! I had the same problem as some other users of Affinity publisher with a 200+ pages book that was almost finished and your tipp worked! Thank you very, very much! Karl
  4. Hello ColinG, did you had a look at the date I wrote the comment? It’s from mid 2019! There were no big masking improvements, improved grading tools and so on. They all are brand new. A performance boost was more than necessary after LR slowed down from 5.7 to 6.0 extremely. To get back some performance is not just a great improvement, I think. It's just cleaning up older programming mistakes. Also the map feature in my 5.7 version has been switched off for years now due to license reasons between Adobe and the map owner. But I payed for it without a limitation in time for using it in the future. Where are the improvements in the book, slideshow and web module? And please, don’t mention the new web galleries that are replacing the hated flash galleries! And yes, I am quite aware about the difference between a DAM or RAW developer and a layer based photo editing tool like Affinity Photo or Adobe Photoshop. Karl
  5. Hello thomaso, thank you for asking. Yes, I am sure, I am working with the final version 1.9.2 of Publisher. Since the 1.9.x version I got more crashes than in former versions in general but the problem with the export of PDF files is obvious. After a hint in this forum I’ve downloaded the beta 1.9.2.1024 and everything was fine. Another sort of crashes that I can repeat happens also when opening a few bigger files like books I am designing with 100 - 300 pages each. This happens in the 1.9.2 and also in the beta 1024 and is very disturbing in my workflow. I am working on a Mac mini from end of 2014 with MacOS 10.15.6 and 16 GB of RAM and about 900 GB of free disk space. Even restarting the computer or stopping any other running program didn’t help. Karl
  6. The crashes I had with the official 1.9.2 version on MacOS 10.15.6 on an Intel Mac mini while trying to export a PDF file are fixed now with this version. Thanks a lot! Karl
  7. Hi, I am very happy to use Affinity Publisher for my various book projects and created already some books about photography (www.warkentin-newmedia.de) with Publisher. However, I am missing a function with sections. It is great to use section names in text boxes and master pages. What I am missing is the possibility to use section numbers in the same way. An example: If sections would be numbered automatically by Publisher I could set them on title pages like "1. Sectiontitle", "2. Sectiontitle" and so on. But more important for books like tutorials or technical manuals is the functionality to create multi-part-pagenumbers like page number 01.17 for page 17 of section number 1 or page 7.23 for page 23 of section number 7. Up to now it is necessary to create multiple master pages and add section numbers manually as a workaround. This is not only annoying but also frustrating if an additional section/chapter has to be included in the middle of the book. I hope to see this helpful tool soon … Karl
  8. Hello team, I would like to see more features for the underline function of text like controlling of the underline position, underline thickness and stroke style. Thank you! Best, Karl
  9. Hello, after intensive using of Publisher I found a realy strange behaviour: whenever I export a file like JPEG, PDF, PNG the exported file is been opened within a separete programm like Photoshop, Adobe Reader or Preview. Can it be switched of or is this a bug? However, Publisher is a great product and I am very happy to work with. Best, Karl
  10. Hello befehr, I also discovered this bug. Publisher is crashing also on my Mac when deleting a toc style. Karl
  11. @ thomaso: Thank you for finding the correct term! Karl
  12. Hello, I am just creating the master pages and paragraph styles of a book, that I have produced in Indesign and imported via a PDF file. When ever I try to create a paragraph style for the pagination with the alignment "towards binding" (sorry, I don’t know the exact term in English, in German it’s called "Zum Rücken hin"), Publisher 1.7.1 is crashing. I hope, you’ll find a fast solution! Thanks a lot in advance Karl

  14. @Blende21: Thanks for your tipp! I've used GraphicConverter already about 30 years ago for format conversions but don’t use it anymore. So I downloaded again the actual version and gave it a try. But by far it is not comparable with Lightroom when it comes to the management and organisation of 100.000 photos or more. It is just a file browser, not a database like LR. Also RAW development, retouching etc. is far behind LR and GC is extremly slow. I know, many poeple don’t know much about the huge capabilities of the Library module in LR but for me it is a unique tool I don’t want to miss. However, I would like to change from LR to a LR killer better today than tomorrow because of Adobes terrible pricing and marketing strategy.
