Mireille G got a reaction from sebh74 in Keyboard issue
While I have a standard keyboard, I use the French Azerty keyboard as my natural input. When using affinity both photo and designer many of the commands only work when the En keyboard is selected. Is this something that could be fixed easily or I am doomed to have to learn touch typing on the En keyboard. This simple little issue is really slowing me down.

    Other than that great product.

It seems like a lot of the people who commented here like the old logos betters. I have to concur, I prefer the old logos, but it's okay eventually we will get used to the new ones. It's not the most important part of the software.

Very nice logos. But I like the old (original) logos a lot more. Just my ten cents worth.

Just to understand: Are these new logos intended for replacing the old app icons? … Oh, I see, it was in the article … personally I perceive the old logos to be a bit stronger, though I like the direction of the new design. But as the previous contributors said: it’s the software that is most important, and I cannot emphasize strongly enough what a wonderful job you are doing …  :)

Only a personal opinion, and I hope you don't mind, but I much prefer the older logos. The new Affinity Publisher logo seems particularly bland ( sorry! ). As Ulrik says, it is the software that is most important. Only best wishes from me for those.

    Hi everyone

It is Hebrew, the 4 letters are shin lamed vav mim. The word is Peace, but means much more than peace. It is hello, good bye, but mostly it is completeness, contentement, wholeness, health. It is all encompassing.

Here are two words (same word with different look) I would like to know your opinion as to which you like best.

Secondly this letters are made up of a bunch of shapes with different colors placed side by side. Sometimes I can make the triangles meet perfectly and sometimes I cannot quite get 3 different triangle points form a perfect union. Is there a trick or shortcut to get this accomplished?

Thank you for looking and suggesting, critiquing even criticizing. I am a big girl I can take it. The idea is to improve.

    Hi MireilleG,

I must confess, I like the second one better … it’s very beautiful … and here’s a possible solution: When you are using the node tool (I suppose you have converted the triangles to curves), Shift click each one of the triangles (to see the points), then make sure you have Snap to selected curves activated, and snap the desired points to each other …

Another trick: Shift click adjacent shapes with the node tool, then draw a marquee around the center point(s) you want to move and transform three (or four) shapes at once … (second video) …

    Hope that helps, Alex  :)

Luckily, there are many, many Mac users.
    Specially artistically biased users.
Most (like me) just can't put up with Windows quirks. If I had to use Windows as a basestand for my work, I would be a very unhappy user :-(

We have no plans to release a Windows version of Affinity at this time. Serif already has a range of applications for for Windows.

Ugh, gulp here too. I guess I've seen in in forum posts but doesn't seem endemic to the design. Sorry.

The only downside is that there are a lot of pixels and not a lot of CPU to generate the data to fill them... I think that it should be fine, but I'm still waiting for santa to buy me one (hint, hint - anyone listening?) so I can see it in the real world... Genuinely, I think we should hands-down be the best option you can get on it, but as to what that experience will be - I need to see it in real life to actually be able to advise you properly (hence why I've been silent so far...)  I've read that its CPU performs like a 2011 MacBook Air, which is not fantastic, but fine - but its display has 2.5 times more pixels that the CPU needs to draw the document for, so I just wanted to add some perspective that in terms of 'grunt' it's actually maybe borderline how it responds in the real world... Like I say, if santa comes early and I happen to find one at the end of the bed one day, I'll let you know how it is - I think they look amazing!!! :)

Mireille G reacted to Leigh in Import photoshop brushes?
It's not possible to convert an object to a brush at the moment. However, you can export your object as a raster image, such as PNG, and then create a New Textured Image Brush using the exported image.

To do this, go to the Brushes Panel and right click on an existing brush. Select New Textured Image Brush and select your image. Your brush will now appear at the bottom of the list. You can edit your brush by right clicking it and selecting Edit Brush...

Mireille G reacted to MEB in Affinity is NOT Adobe!
I also expect to have all this available in Affinity Designer. Most of the features described are fundamental in a vector application and others are great additions/suggestions, but that's not the point. We can't compare software applications as if they were comparable directly in the current circumstances (Affinity /Adobe). There's a little gap between the two: 25 years. A comparison between a version 1.0 versus v18.0 isn't fair. People talk about Affinity apps as if they were done. They aren't. We just started...  :)

Brushes are already present on both applications because they share the same code, and because Designer will allow to mix both types of data: raster and vector. Since the code was ready to be included, it's there already. But, it doesn't define the scope of Designer or Photo; neither means the application's goals overlap. It's just a small part of both that's common. They will be defined more for what's have yet to come that for what's already there. If it seems that they look similar now it's because they share the same foundations. The differences will come with their growth. And for that we need time. The gap nobody seems to care about is precisely the point here.
