  1. I'm laying out a magazine with more than 150 pages and a lot of linked images. When I try to add or delete pages, Publisher crashes. The timeline is near, and I don't know what to do. I've tried to downgrade to 1.8.6 because I've done previous issues of the magazine with versions prior to 1.9, but I can't even open it precisely because it has been done with a recent version. What could I do?
  2. Thanks @loukash and @Pauls. The problem was indeed the zoom: I had 62% and the threshold was set to 75% 😅 In case anyone has the same issue, I noticed the zoom threshold for the baseline grid to be visible can be configured through the Display Threshold option, in View → Baseline Grid Manager.
  3. Hi! It’s just me or the “Show Baseline” option doesn’t work anymore since the last upgrade (1.9.3)?
  4. Yes, but I felt bad because I usually only point out the bugs. I wanted to highlight that not all is awful, but the Affinity team have also made some improvements. Some kind words from time to time are important to encourage the team 🙂
  5. The truth is that the expand stroke option has been dramatically improved. However, a merge points option would be really useful. Even necessary sometimes.
  6. It's a shame, but this kind of persisting errors make Designer unreliable for serious work. expand-stroke.mp4
  7. When we create a new preset document from the categories “web” and “devices”, some presets are unexpectedly set at 144 dpi, instead of 72 dpi. This causes that when exporting the artboard as a slice (through the Export persona), the artboard’s size is reduced at the half. So if the preset artboard is 1080×1080 px, the resulting JPG (exported at 1x), will be 540×540 px. I thought it was a bug (probably it is) until I figured out what was going on. This is weird and misleading. I'm not sure if this isn't exactly a bug but
  8. Hi @Sean P I'm on 1.8.2 beta. Some issues with Boolean operations have been solved, but there are still bugs. Look at this: Mar-02-2020 12-45-20.mp4
  9. It looks like the same errors in Boolean operations that have been reported in Designer 1.8.1 also exist in Publisher 1.8.
  10. On iPad I've found exactly the same problem that occurs on the MacOS 1.8.1 version in relation to the Boolean operation “Add”:
  11. @Cealcrest @JensW Same problems here. The only possibility I see is that the Affinity team put back version 1.7.3 instead of 1.8.1 in Apple Store until critical issues are solved. I also learnt a big lesson. 😞
  12. @Sean P It looks like subdivisions only work from a 15px spacing and up. Look, in a 100x100px artboard, subdivisions doesn’t work at all. This is frustrating, but the problems on boolean operations are critical. I can't use Designer since I upgraded to version 1.8.1 and I can’t downgrade. PLEASE could you make available version 1.7.3 on Apple Store until 1.8.x becomes usable? subdivisions.mp4
  13. Designer 1.8.1 (downloaded from Apple Store): More new problems with boolean operations. In the previous version of Designer (1.7.3) this particular problem did not exist. Where can I download that prior version again? I can't work with the current one 😞 Feb-27-2020 13-27-25.mp4
  14. Thank you @Joachim_L, With your help, I succeeded to handle the issue, although it implied a lot of manual work. However, the option "Create Palette from Document” works in an unexpected (and probably buggy) way. It doesn't get the colours from the whole document, but only from the page (or the spread) you are on. In addition to that, it looks like it extracts colours from the images: in this case, you could end up with a huge useless palette filled with shades. Quite weird.
  15. Is there a way of getting a list of all the colours used in a document? I'm working on a quite messy publication, with plenty of different colours, and I'd like to simplify the palette without checking all the elements one by one… Please, tell me there's a simple way to do this.
  16. There's a problem with the hyphenation for Catalan. Specifically, the hyphenation of the letter combination «l·l» (ela geminada) is not correct. If you look at the image below, you'll see that Publisher brokes the word «instal·laria» like “insta- l·laria” while the correct division would be “instal- laria”: the middle dot must be replaced by a hyphen. Here's a screenshot of the concerning rules in the hyphen_ca.dic, that works as expected in InDesign but not in Publisher. I think this is probably a bug on the layout engine. I'm attaching hyphen_ca.dic. Probably this will be useful for you to make tests. hyph_ca.dic
  17. There's also buggy hyphenation for Catalan. Specifically, the combination «l·l» is not divided correctly. If you look at the image below, you'll see that Publisher brokes the word «instal·laria» like “insta- l·laria” while the correct hyphenation would be “instal- laria”: the middle dot is replaced by a hyphen. Here's a screenshot of the concerning rules in the hyphen_ca.dic, that works as expected in InDesign but not in Publisher. I think this is probably a bug concerning the layout engine. I hope it will be solved soon.
  18. In case someone needs a Hunspell hyphenation dictionary for Catalan, I’m attaching one that works fine. Remember you must place the file in a folder named «ca» (or «ca_ES», the name is up to you) inside Applications/Affinity Publisher/Contents/Resources/Dictionaries. hyph_ca_ES.dic
