  1. Thank you very much for your reply and the tip. Indeed, I had ruled that out before and the two shapes were overlapped.

In the meantime, I also stumbled across this thread here. See below.

EDIT: To be fair, I must add that this "error" does not always seem to occur.

  2. Maybe the same problem?

    Fragments remain after subtracting.
    Example:
    Rectangle in first plane
Circle or ring in second plane

The rectangle intersects the circle or ring completely.

After selecting "Subtract", however, fragments of the circle or ring remain, which can be seen at the nodes, among other things.
This does not always happen, but I cannot explain where the problem might have its origin.

Left Circle (Ring) is not correct.

    Right Circle (ring) ist correct.

    My System:
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
    3.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
    Radeon Pro 575 4 GB
    macOS Monterey 12.4
    Affinity Designer 1.10.5

  3. Create two rectangles.
The first rectangle in the desired size of your target.
Create the second rectangle by copying the first one and then resize it as desired, so that the edges get the later "width".
Then subtract the smaller rectangle from the larger rectangle. Only the edges remain. After that you can "punch" them out, i.e. subtract them again.

  4. The way DM1 described it works. But its more like a workaround. Name changes via "rename file" don't work as desired yet, cause it has  no effect on the stored file in the file.app. This is especially important when, for example, several versions of a file have to be edited and safed. It probably seems to be a bug.

Anyway, a big thank to everyone for your attention and replies.

    Speicherort: Auf meinem iPad

Hello, everybody: I don't have the same problem but a similar one: Changing (rename) the file name within Affinity Designer doesn't affect the file stored on the iPad in Files.app.

    Location: On the iPad

AD 1.7.1 on iOS 12.3.1 on iPad Pro 9,7“
