prsdeb got a reaction from walt.farrell in Designer Update ?
I guess I'll try that. I don't use Designer that much which is why I'm so far behind on the updates. Thanks everyone!!

I've done it both ways in trying to get this to work. When I run the 1.10.6 file with the old version closed it goes through the motions like everything is fine and at the end I get the error message. So, I open Designer back up to see the version and it's still the old version. I'm wondering if I need to uninstall my current version and start fresh? I'm afraid to do this in case it won't load at all. At least now I'm able to use the program. I just wanted to keep it updated. Thank you again.

Hi Phil, the resampling methods are ordered by sharpness. For photographic purposes you can safely ignore Nearest Neighbour. Bilinear will produce the softest result, whereas Lanczos 3 non-separable will produce the sharpest (the difference between separable and non-separable is very slight). Bicubic is somewhere in the middle and will probably suffice for the majority of your images.

One reason to use a softer resampling method might be if your image has lots of high frequency content - from excessive noise to very fine detail like chainlink fences and difficult patterning in architecture. Using a sharper resampling method may exacerbate these parts of the image, and may even produce resampling artefacts (though they are more noticeable in video content to be honest - stills, not so much).

As always, experiment! But for a good safe bet with most of your images, try Bicubic. Hope that helps!

The latest build is a complete mess, I can't use any of the filters, the entire software freezes, same with nik collection filters. I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same issues, I went to the previous version with no issues. I use W10.
Update: Everything works just fine now, I figured out the problem. When I transfer the TIFF file from DXO to Affinity you can not add a layer a PNG. file "PhotoLogo" before doing all your adjustments in Affinity including the nik collection filters, once you are done with your image then you can add a PNG layer to the image without the Affinity software locking up or freezing.

Affinity Photo 1.7 now delivers an ICC profile which seems to have caused the plugins to stop working. We have contacted some of the plugin developers to see how we can resolve this.

Thanks for the video @prsdeb, we'll investigate whether there has been any regression in performance, but just for info, I've loaded a 24MP Nikon RAW, and on my 5 year old Dell laptop (quad-core i7), and the Develop process took ~5 seconds...
Does it make a difference whether you develop to 32-bit or 16-bit?
