  1. Hi Dutch,

Nice of jmac to convert your files!

I found this site that may be helpful: http://www.zamzar.com/uploadComplete.php?convertFile=ai&to=pdf

It is a free online converter, that sends a link to your email for the converted file (I used Blur to mask my email, just in case it attracts spam).

The results are great & seems legit, I've attached the converted files of one legacy Illustrator file here.

Hopefully it is a good alternative to forking out for Creative Cloud!

    Paul.

  2. Has anyone previewed OSX10.11 El Capitan?

Are there any issues with Designer or Photo or is it likely to be safe to upgrade the OS?

Both Affinity Photo and Designer are optimised for OS X El Capitan, so will work without any issues :)

    Hi Douglas Richardson,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Affinity software is fully compatible with El Capitan.

You shouldn't have any issues upgrading to the new OS.

[EDIT] Leigh is typing too fast...

    Hi Douglas,

I'm using AP & AD, including the latest Betas in El Capitan Golden Master without any issues.

I intend to upgrade my main system to El Capitan as soon as it's released.

  3. At the moment I am working with it since restarting the computer and it is working fine [for now]. Not that it has anything to do with restarting the computer, it has happened on two separate occasions both between shutting the computer down and starting it up again.

If I end up buying this software I need to know that it can start and run flawlessly without any bugs like this.

For now I'm busy trying to find the eyedropper/colour selection tool - it doesn't seem to have one? When I choose the 'paint' brush I don't see any options for selecting a colour.

    Hi Desmond,

The Eyedropper tool is in the Swatches palette & also the Colours palette:

It needs to be dragged to the area to be measured:

  4. Could it be  a video card thing? because when I go back through the history my first adjustments show up, then there is a gap where it played up, then the adjustments show again after that gap when it started working again - can the video card cause the program not to show edits? I can still flip between the app and Safari without any issues on safari.

There are no other apps running besides safari which I used to look up the problem.

    Hi Desmond,

I was interpreting your original description of the problem as a video card problem because it seemed that there was a lag between doing an edit & being able to see the result.

If Affinity Photo is not behaving itself, try holding down the Ctrl (control) key when starting up Affinity Photo, this will re-set it & hopefully iron out any issues.

Let me know if this works.

    Paul.

  5. I bought it brand new 2 weeks ago.

    Hi Desmond,

One thing that may work, is to hold the Ctrl key down when opening Affinity Photo to reset the app.

I'm not sure if the issue is with the Intel Iris Pro video card or not, maybe one of the devs will know.

Do you know what other apps/processes are running on your iMac as well as Affinity Photo?

It may also be a resource issue, if you have too many resource hungry or graphics intensive apps open.

I've attached my iMac's spec & I have no video lag:

  6. Hi Paul -

Thanks for your answer - are you sure? I had a few of my squares have the red outline at the same time... they were all in different places and each was it's own separate entity.

    Hi robertpastrana,

It's a feature for showing 'snapping candidates'.

It can be turned off if you wish, see attached screen shots:

    Hope this helps,

    Paul.
