  1. I realized after the fact that the wrap outline could be adjusted (prior to the replies, but I still appreciate them - found the outline button by accident). Still, it'd be handy if mask transparency or layer visibility was accounted for, but maybe it's something to be considered further down the line when bigger feature requests and things are addressed, or maybe not at all, as adding it would possibly contribute to bloating the software.
  2. Currently have to completely rasterize layers and delete original layers out of linked files for text to wrap close to the desired image. Necessitates different versions of the same file, especially if one wants to go back and bring back parts that had to be deleted or rasterized. Ideally text would wrap around visible layers from a file only. Even better would be if the layer masks didn't need to be rasterized to the layer for text wrap to work properly. First image shows the layer contents of the file, second image shows the text going bye-bye, as it believes it's over the edge of the image.
  3. If you still have the button for .afphoto files in 1.8, I probably just need to reset the program. No fun, given I'll have to rearrange the workspace again, but if it brings the button back it will save some other trouble. I'll try that and then put the results below. --- First off, .afphoto files are fine. It turns out that the .afphoto files that I thought were .afphoto files were actually .psds. The reason being is they are product photos initially edited in Photo, but exported as .psds to send to another guy to cut out because he has Photoshop and sent back to us, and we waited to get Publisher until later, so we needed to be able to place them in InDesign. So linked .psd files don't get to be edited anymore, in-program in Publisher, it seems. This is rather counter-intuitive? I know they weren't truly placed, but now I have to go and re-place all of those as embedded, or convert them all to .afphoto. There's like over 500 photos I just did myself in the year since I got hired here, and probably twice that or more in .psd product photos that were taken since 2016. I also don't want to embed them, that's a lot. Working on a file saved on the server is slow enough already and the file size is gonna balloon like crazy.
  4. MacOS Mojave 10.4.6 After checking, the problem is for linked psd. files AND .aphoto files. All files are indeed linked (although as changes to the files in Publisher 1.7 weren't reflected in the originals, they may have been behaving as embedded, anyway), as they already exist on the server we save the document to, and we're trying to conserve space. It's going to be a lot of work to go back through those files (a task I'll have to do sometime down the road, anyway, but would prefer to not do now). We have a bunch of .psd product photos from before we got Affinity, and being able to just turn off the background layer from Publisher was super handy and time saving, without having to go back and forth between programs.
  5. I assume it was intentional? If so, where is this button/functionality now? Do I need to reset the app? When I import some psd/afphoto files, I need to hide some of the layers on those files as we use those file in multiple applications, and don't wish to edit the main file. Thanks.
  6. Add a toggle button in the top bar for a "Rule of Thirds" overlay.
  7. Probably worth digging into the performance preferences and capping the RAM that Affinity is allowed to use to a safe amount, then. But I don't think it would keep Affinity itself crashing from excessive RAM usage (which is the issue I've been dealing with, it's obviously not taking the whole computer into the ether with it), it would just happen more frequently. /ramble I also have to wonder if the accumulating RAM from the back-to-back image linking sucks up more RAM in terms of Undo History? Does History get stored in RAM or offloaded in a cache file on disk? /moreRambling
  8. I'm linking a ton of images in my project as well, and noticed a trend with the memory usage - with the iOS "Activity Monitor" (Windows Task Manager equivalent) open to the RAM tab on a different screen, every time I link another image the RAM usage jumps a half a gig to a full gig. I've got 32GB to play around with, but am simultaneously running other programs. So when Publisher got to 18GB usage I saved and closed Publisher and restarted it. File opened at just 1GB of usage, but again, continuing to link files drives it up again. As of right now my solution is to continue monitoring usage and just restart the program when it gets high, but it would be better if future versions of Publisher would release the RAM it's allocating for the import of the linked image, once it's been placed.
  9. Perhaps there could be a "Show Hyperlinks" option the same way there is a "Show Anchors" option in the Text>Interactive menu? There are an obnoxious amount of hyperlinks/anchors in the document I'm working on and having visual indicators like the anchors do for whether something's been hyperlinked already or not would be helpful.
  10. I didn't think it was a bug - been using this as a means to create hyperlinks with shapes/images, since shapes and images can't be made into hyperlinks (yet?).
  11. Hello, Jon. As far as I could tell, yes, it was only after the program crashed. I can't try replicating it again until Monday US Central Time to test it again, as it's a work computer and I don't have a mac at home. I did attempt to hold control when reopening the program, but for some reason (probably end user error) I wasn't able to get it to do its thing. At that point I needed to continue working that project, so in the moment it was less hassle to delete the program's config files manually. I would like to know how to properly use the control button to reset the program so if I break the UI again Monday I can see if holding control to reset would fix it - I'm not mac illiterate, but the work computer is the only mac in my life at the moment, and all my personal machines run either Windows or Linux haha.
  12. Using 1.7.3, macOS Mojave 10.14.6. Working on a table in a new document. I try to format the table with the little drop-down arrow and select "Autofit Row to fit Contents" with the row(s)/column(s) selected and the program abruptly crashes (screenshot). When the program reopens, the top tool bar is missing (screenshot). Unchecking "Separated Mode" or resetting the studio does not fix the top tool bar being missing. The only solution that I found to work was completely wiping the program and all config files off the computer and reinstalling fresh [edit: I have to wipe it off and reinstall it twice for some reason to get the top tool bar back]. I do have a Wacom Intuos tablet plugged in, a 3rd party keyboard, a logitech mouse, and use a second monitor, but do not run the program on the second monitor, which is mostly used to keep a web browser up and other programs. This is the first time I've attempted to create a table or even used Publisher extensively, we're transitioning over from InDesign. The pdf opened alongside the fresh document I am using as a reference for object placement.
  13. I am having the issue described on Windows on Photo 1.7, and on the Mac I use at work when we used the trial version (IOS Mojave, I believe). On Windows when it happens I get what happens in the first post, and I can't click on any tools, the program behaves like the entire window is the canvas and like the toolbars aren't there. Sometimes carries over to trying to click outside the program window to the desktop or other windows/programs. I've even restarted AP sometimes to get it to stop.
  14. It's not anything that I think has been done in an image manipulation program before. I'm currently demoing Photo for work, as we're going to probably drop our CC subscription, and I was just thinking, as I go back and forth between multiple photos of the same object that I'm editing for our website and product books, how nice it would be if the layers tab could be addended or part of the individual document windows so one could compare what has and hasn't been done to each photo. Would probably look something like the attached image.
