It's still valuable since most Japanese don't speak English.
Vertical text is essential in the publishing/printing industry for sure, but in certain industries such as web, photography or painting, they can go without vertical text in many cases.
Unless Affinity becomes well known, people wouldn't be interested in it, and domination by Adobe will continue.
So we have to gain users in industries where vertical text is less important first.

Also the shape builder tool like illustrator would be helpful.

I have some suggestions to add to the next update of affinity designer.
Since i used to use there tools on Illustrator and there isn't no workaround to get the same effects...Here is the suggestions to add to the next update.

My concern with the lack of warp/distort after all these years is that there may be a fundamental weakness in the foundation of the tool that doesn't allow for a nondestructive manipulation of the artwork - that it breaks the image - and to do so will require a ground-up change to the structure of the file. Because lets face it, warp/distort has been a part of just about every other vector app since day one.
I appreciate the Affinity tools, the well-thought-out UX and the power behind the related apps, but my work requires contextual placement of art in a fast time frame. To lose a feature that's been around for over 25 years is hard to understand.

Maybe pixels may do it for certain people here. So it always depends what people are after and what fulfills their specific individual needs here. - I for my part don't want to change vector to pixels or use other third party tools, thus switching to APh and bitmaps is no option for me, or using third party vector tools for this on the long go. - A major and serious vector tool should nowadays offer these important functions.

For the future it would be fine to also get real vector based distortion/warp functionality for Designer.

I think a lot of people are anxious to cut the adobe cord completely and its hard to wait for crucial features that would allow this.
