    Hello @ACPhillips,
    I would draw a rectangle on and fill it with the faber of choice.
    Then nest the SVG file with the rectangle.
    I do not know if there are other methods.
    cheers

    it's a png image wrapped in an svg container not a vector file
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?><!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"><svg width="100%" height="100%" viewBox="0 0 14011 14011" version="1.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/" style="fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:2;">
    <use id="PSS-URL-logo-white-transparent" xlink:href="#_Image1" x="0" y="0" width="2000px" height="2000px" transform="matrix(7.00527,0,0,7.00527,0,0)"/>
    <defs><image id="_Image1" width="2000px" height="2000px" xlink:href="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAB.....etc
    So all you can do is rasterise the layer then use a paint brush or flood fill but it'll still be a bitmap. Personally I'd trace it with Inkscape and do it properly

    While creating and saving Styles may be useful and does get the job done, one may not want to add the momentarily-needed formatting to their Styles collection AND it would be far faster to be able to right-click and have a  "clone formatting" or "format painter" (the latter being a Microsoft term for a format cloning function) added to the pop-up box that now only include a few basic actions (cut,copy, paste...).  IMO, this is an easy fix and a big miss for Affinity.

    Flood fill tool does not work on image layers, see if you need to rasterize the layer first. Also, soft edges may present a problem, which you can deal either making them hard, or placing solid colour layer above he image and adjusting blend options (which is not about Flood fill tool anymore...).

    Why is there NO "Envelope" or "Warp" tool in Designer?!  It's absurd!  Envelope was there in Serif DrawPlus.   Creating arc'd text (not on a path) is a BASIC text modification. With all the complex things Designer can do, why is this missing? This has been requested for years!

    Another up-vote for this feature, which could be a huge time-saver fortext-heavy projects .
    This isn't a workaround to be thrilled about, but it seems to work and if there's a lot of format-copying and -pasting to be done, I might use it in the future. First, style the text to be copied/pasted as need be (within Publisher). Copy the text needing additional styling changes to the clipboard. Paste it into a Word or Word-like program (I use TextMaker).
    Do the copying and pasting of the formatting there. I assigned those editor features to Shift+Control+C and Shift+Control+V so that the operations would be similar to those in other programs I use (Capture One, for example—same keystrokes for copy and paste image adjustments).
    Copy the styled text in the editor to the clipboard. Paste it back into the Publisher document.
    My test of the idea is only brief for now but it appears to work, and without introducing junk into the Publisher document that I don't want there. The other text styling is preserved and the Publisher text style names aren't altered in any way after the updated text is pasted into the Publisher document.
    It certainly isn't as fast as a dedicated command within Publisher would be, no question.

    Its mid September 2020 and I just started using the Affinity products.  In general as good or better than the Adobe suite... BUT--- the inability to quickly and easily copy/paste a text style is really annoying.  Such an easy fix.  Make that a priority Affinity!  We're all waiting.

    Just chiming in to say that I use the eyedropper to apply formats to different texts and I find it extremely useful. I think this is one of those thing that will prevent me from moving away from InDesign at the moment, although I love Publisher!

    I have a round logo that I want to crop out from a white background (JPG image). The Vector Crop Tool only seems to let me crop in boxes.  Surely there is a simple way to select a circular area of an image and crop that out, to save what's inside the circle.  Please advise ASAP.  Thanks in advance!

    I have just started using Publisher and it’s great – I do agree, however, that this would be a very useful feature for quick works, where you wouldn’t usually bother creating text or paragraph styles. I hope they add it in the next upgrade.

    I would like to add my two cents that this is really, REALLY important. When I do a complex document I do create a set of styles, often a fairly complex set.  BUT there are always typographic fine-tuning adjustments necessary depending on the actual layout and how things come together. If I created styles for each adjustment I would be dealing with a frighteningly long list of styles: "heading 1" and "heading 1 when (a)" and "heading 1 when (b)" and "heading 1 when (c)"... you get the idea. It's just not practical, and I would lose all the time saved by using styles in searching through them for the one tweaked for a particular circumstance. It's much quicker and easier to copy/paste the format. Please add this feature!

    Just to try and make it a bit clearer, in case anyone else is reading this and wondering, you can add pretty-much any vector art – SVG, EPS, etc. – that you find on the web (or elsewhere) into your documents; they don’t need to be in an assets file.
    Just get the SVG file – or whatever type of vector image it is – into whatever storage you have – local hard drive, etc. – and use menu “File → Place” to locate the file. Then you can place the vector image into the document with a click of the mouse.
    Once it is in your document you can create an asset from it, if you want to, by using the relevant functions as explained in the Help.

    Hi ACPhillips
    Check out the resources section of the forums, as many users upload assets here for free! You can also use an advanced Google search to find more specific assets, as follows - https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aforum.affinity.serif.com+"resources"+assets
    You can turn any vector objects into Assets, but you can't import any vector files directly into the Assets Studio, this requires the .afassets format. I hope this helps!

    If you want a quickly destructive crop of a raster image document draw a rectangle to define the size of the crop, drag the image layer over the rectangle layer in the Layers panel and export it - don't forget to change the Area dropdown on the Export dialog to Selection with (or without) background. No need to go to Export Persona.

    In Drawplus there is a great tool that allows you to quickly crop something to a shape (a circle for instance). That's missing in Designer. Or am I missing it? That's a great tool that saves times.
    If missing, is there another way to crop something to a shape? Thanks for any feedback.
