  1. The Affinity apps have three different types of buttons of add layers in the layer panel: "Add Pixel Layer" In Photo and Designer "Add Layer" in Designer and Publisher "Group Layers" in Photo The Layer from "Add Layer" in Designer and Publisher is very useful for organizing content and preserving separate selection for items inside of it. While the "Group" is useful for adjusting multiple items together. I know that Photo has Auto-select feature now, but it's better to have both types in the same document. T his is also the same type of organizational layer in Photoshop and other raster software, I don't know why Affinity decided to make Photo different. My workflow in Photo now is almost opening the document first in either Designer or Publisher, pressing "Add Layer" a couple of times and then returning to Photo. If you add "Add Layer" like in the other apps, it'll make organization easier and save me 2 minutes of my life each time I create a new Photo document. The Group Layers can be created by just clicking ctrl+g, or can be left alongside it.
  2. I use the Mesh Warp to extend the background of some images. But there is no option to constraint the handle drag horizontally or vertically like in the perspective warp or most of the other dragging tool. It's much a needed option, especially on image that fit horizontally or vertically only. I don't think this should be a hard one, so please add in the next update.
  3. 250 Million, it was a typo, and I corrected it. Even if HarfBuzz doesn't do everything, it can serve as a good starting point, and they'll have to code the things that it doesn't do.
  4. For formatting books, I moved away from Publisher to Word so I can export epubs quickly and not have to format the book twice.
  5. They don't have a good justification engine compared to Adobe, which uses Donald Knuth algorithm from Tex. Word is also horrible at justified text as much as as Affinity.
  6. @LibreTraining Not supporting RTL/Indic languages will make the apps completely useless to a large number of these language users. Cross references might affect it only partially, and variable fonts don't really hinder the usability of the apps. For example, in the world there are: 400 million Arabs 250 million Pakistanis 80 Million Persian 7 Million Hebrow 1400 million Indians 250 Million Pakistanis 165 Million Bengalis If not making your product available to designers from these countries, especially considering that they're low income, so most likely the Affinity pricing will make sense more to them. Language support is the biggest update they can offer to attract in more customers. If it's not top priority, I don't know what should be. And there is the open source HarfBuzz, why don't they use since it's already available?
  7. I had the 1.10.5 version installed. When I installed V2 alongside it, it asked me to import my presets from Affinity V1, the macros were there.
  8. $97 for TransType, a software that I'll barely use here and there while Affinity 3 software that are more complicated and I use almost daily bought for $99.99. This just shows how crazy of a value is Affinity.
  9. @LibreTraining Can you please tell me which software did you use to correct the font names?
  10. @LibreTraining Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.
  11. They said that they don't care about that RTL and complex text because it'll take time to code and they have other stuff to do. People asked if they can use HarfBuzz which is an open source text option and they said no. Just forget about having RTL implemented natively. There are websites and software that allow you to enter the original text and they'll pick the glyphs for you, so you just copy paste them instead of looking for them one by one. https://www.arabic-keyboard.org/photoshop-arabic/ is one example.
  12. @LibreTrainingThanks for suggesting to fix it. And as you've said the google ones don't have italics which I need.
  13. This happens to other fonts like Oswald (from fontsquirrel) where it separates the regular and the rest of the fonts. It also has normal and italic variants under the same name. This happens only in Affinity software.
  14. I'm on Windows, I've set the color wheel to square in the color panel, but it continues to appear as only triangle with no option to select square in the Layer FX.
  15. And is it possible to make the color option permanently seen instead of having to click on a button to open the menu?
  16. So I have added a Live Warp to some text (The top "Hello World"), the if I add some more text to the warped text, it doesn't consider the new edges and it doesn't seem anyway to redraw the source warp points.
  17. I tried it and it doesn't work. You get the "Cannot record "Set Current Selection"" Error.
