  1. Well done :) May I ask how you were able to remove the mysterious password protection? Does one need to have an Adobe license for that?

By the way, I got around the problem by simply printing the PDF with Foxit Reader PDF printer (which might not be the best approach of course).

And why can other applications open the file without specification of a password?

Thank you, Walt and Mike, for your comments. That's what also confuses me a bit. Firefox and Foxit Reader open the file just fine without the need for entering a password. Scribus also seems to be able to import it successfully.

  3. Hello,

it seems like Publisher is automatically rotating an image after it is converted to a picture frame, but only if the image got rotated before the conversion. Here are steps to reproduce the issue:

    1. Place an image.
    2. Rotate the image by some amount.
    3. Right click the image and choose "Convert to picture frame".

Expected behavior: Image is converted to picture frame without moving/rotating the image.

Observed behavior: Image is rotated by same amount as in step 2 within picture frame.

    Kind regards

  4. I was also using the 1.8.0.523 beta version to reproduce this behavior.

However, I found out that the .523 beta version allows for embedding the .afpub document directly including the bleed area (this is not possible in the 1.7.3.481 version). So I skipped step 3 and imported the afpub file directly, placed the cut markers manually and exported the final document to PDF again: The balloon is still shifted.

After fiddling around with my original Card.afpub file, I noticed that the layers that belong to the balloon (heart and string) have their opacity value set below 100%. After changing the opacity back to 100% for both layers, the final PDF export looked OK, the balloon is no longer shifted. So the problem may have something to do with the layer opacity.

  5. Hello,

I hope everone had some wonderful Christmas holidays. When trying to create an invitation card with Publisher v1.7.3.481 on Windows 7 I ran into a problem with my pdf export which I was not able to resolve. Here's my workflow:

    1. Create a new Publisher document with page size 131,5 mm x 131,5 mm and bleed of 3 mm on each side.
    2. Place a few svg graphics, text frames and a heart shape with 3D effects on document. See attached Card.afpub
    3. Export document as PDF including cut markers. The resulting PDF file looks like this (Card.pdf):Card.thumb.png.2102367f02dd34de87dacdc8dc31ad69.png
    4. Create another Publisher document with A4 page size and no bleeding. Place the exported PDF file in this document in such a way that the cut markers are shown.  See attached Card_A4.afpub
    5. Export document as PDF. The resulting PDF looks like this (Card_A4.pdf):
      Card_A4.thumb.png.726dd3401fbe2f5abe60eedf31c9cddc.png

As you can see, in the resulting PDF file, the "heart ballon" object is shifted towards the top right and is no longer at its original position. I have attached all the documents which I mentioned if you'd like to look at the files. The same problem happens also with the current Publisher beta version.

  6. If I check the "Align to base line grid" option in the paragraph menu, the text will be aligned to the base line grid. in this case I don't expect the text to be vertically centered exactly, because it has to align to the grid.

But if I uncheck that option, the text of that particular textbox does no longer need to align to the base line grid (which is doesn't if you look closely in the second screenshot). In this case though, I expect the text to be precisely vertically centered.

Please don't confuse the global "Use base line grid" option with the "Align to base line grid" option from the paragraph menu.

  7. Hello,

I am running version 1.7.1.404 of Publisher and experiencing an issue where text is not vertically centered correctly when the base line grid is activated.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a new document and add a text box with some text.
    2. Set vertical alignment of the text box to "Centered".
    3. In "paragrah options -> base line grid" uncheck the setting "Align to base line grid".
    4. Note that the text is vertically centered correctly as one would expect (the base line grid is not activated yet). See screenshot 1.
    5. Open the base line grid menu and activate the base line grid by checking the corresponding check box.
    6. Note that the text is not vertically centered correctly, it is not in the exact center of the text box. See screenshot 2.

Screenshot 1 (base line grid deactivated -> Text vertically centered correctly):

Screenshot 2 (Base line grid activated -> Vertical alignment of text is wrong):

    1) The cell borders do not show if frame stroke is set to none so it is difficult to see where you are in the table.  It should be possible to show the cell outline without setting a frame stroke.

    Hello,

I agree with riball in that it would be very useful if the outlines of the table cells were still visible in edit mode.

  9. Hello,

I've noticed that the text ruler is not aligned correctly inside of a text frame with 2 columns and 1 cm offset distance to all sides. The text ruler doesn't seem to take the configured offset distance into account and begins with the left text frame border instead of the actual text column border. Notice that on the right side of the left column the text ruler ends 1 cm too early.
