Really sorry to hear that! Unfortunately I've not been able to reproduce. Are you able to reproduce the crashing behaviour you got? If so could you record a video and attach it please?
With regards to the missing files you could try the following:
Download iMazing (Commercial application for Mac, but the free trial is only needed, unfortunately i'm not aware of any Windows applications)
Connect your iPad to your Mac
Make a backup of the iPad through iMazing
In the top right click the iPad's name and select the backup
Inside the Apps > Affinity Designer folder > Library > Application Support > com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.ios >
Drag the Autosave folder to the desktop (iMazing trial allows 10 drag operations, so doing the folder will get all files exported at once)
Renamed from .autosave to .afdesign and check through these files.
Sorry to hear you have lost work. It pays to save outside of sandbox or a crash may cost you dearly. Use the Save or Save a Copy Options, then close the work file and then open the 'saved' version. Now when you save, the .afdesign file will be updated. This way you make copies and store them as backups.
