Edward Goodwin got a reaction from xicus in Feature request: node-weld version of join curves
In a separate post I've asked the same question... so I'm glad I'm not the only one missing this functionality!
However, I wonder if an additional tool is actually required... it's not in Illustrator. My version is simply that if the two points to be joined are coincident, the additional joining line is not created. That way, one tool does two jobs. For me, the process would be thus:
Use the node tool to drag one point on top of another node (the yellow snapping cues will help you to know they are coincident).  Click-drag over the points (which are coincident) to select both. Select 'join curves'. Done.  I guess, a dialogue could appear (as it does in Illustrator) to ask if you'd like a corner or a smooth curve. For me that's not essential as I can change that in the normal way as necessary. If the two points are not coincident then the functionality of the join curve button would be the same as it currently is (i.e. an additional line would be added to join the two points.
    Make sense?

It's great to see that there is now some compatibility with dxf/dwg formats.
Any idea when Affinity Designer will be able to EXPORT dxf/dwg files? For us, this is really important and a massive frustrating. Indeed, it's been a massive frustration for *years*...

As mentioned by LeeThorpe above, setting up two paragraph styles is probably the best way to go.
Create one paragraph style for the First Paragraph and another paragraph style for Subsequent Paragraphs.
Then edit the First Paragraph style and set the “Next style” to the Subsequent Paragraphs style as shown in my attached image (but use better names).
Note, however, that you cannot then select all of your text and then apply the First Paragraph style to all the paragraphs and expect the Subsequent Paragraph style to be applied in the way you might expect. Instead you should apply the Subsequent Paragraphs style to the all of the text and then apply the First Paragraph style to the first paragraph.

Alt-drag (option-drag on my Mac) ignores snapping. If I option-drag to duplicate and then remove my finger from the option key while still dragging with my trackpad, the duplicated object snaps to the original.
Add - if you're on a Mac, cmd-drag 'Clones' selected objects and the clone will snap immediately. Might be worth trying with ctrl-drag on Windows.

Edward Goodwin got a reaction from mrshifty in Join coincident points in Designer
    Hi,
Please could someone explain how to join coincident points in Designer? I understand how to use the Join tool with non-coincident points: shift-select the two end points with the node tool, select Join and hey presto! you get a new line which joins the two selected points. However, what about if I don't want a new line? How do I select the two coincident points such that they then join to create a single point which joins the two lines together? In Illustrator, this is not tricky - click and drag over the two coincident points > select join (decide if you want a sharp corner or a curving corner) and it's done. I'm sure I'm missing something in Designer... could someone spill the beans please? Thank you!

Edward Goodwin got a reaction from walt.farrell in Publisher Table of Contents not working - no styles available in list
    Hi Walt,
Thanks for the reply - it seems that there was some problem with the text/paragraph styles... they were selected in the panel but were not coming through to the drop down menu at the top. I've resaved the styles and reapplied them using the top menu drop-down and now they are appearing in the TOC box so it's all working fine (-ish!)
    Thanks for your help.

Edward Goodwin got a reaction from WillMaxwell in Darken border in crop tool
Is there a way to change the amount of darkness that's added when ticking the 'Darken Border' option in the crop tool in Affinity Photo? I'd like to have the option to darken the border to black so that the area outside the crop are fully obscured. Is this possible?
    All thoughts/suggestions gratefully received!

    Thanks for the reply.
Is this something that can be added into a list for new feature requests? I think it'd be really useful. It is available in photoshop (hence why I'm used to it...)
