Thanks Garry - I have created simply video. I know it is operator error on my end - thanks for taking a look.

1. It’s fairly easy, see two ways in my attached video (I prefer the second way in this case even if it’s more work), but there will be others.
2. As I said above, look in the Appearance Panel (menu “View → Studio → Appearance Panel”) when you have the “Wind” layer selected (only available in Designer).Edit: Ah, you’ve removed some of your earlier comments so my replies don’t sound right now.
Thanks - sorry for changing my post - your videos are very helpful. Thank you. Would the next step be for clone those lines made in the video and change their stroke widths to something larger then lay them on top of each other to get the three colors - blue, white and black?
I did this but when I try Geometry > Merge Curves I ended up with one curve that had the color of the bottom layer, black.
Thank you for your patience.

I was hoping to remove the curves in the center, then outline, then put a smaller version of the lines in their place - I basically want a black outline around the "wind" curves. I was hoping by adding a large outline that this would make "space" for me to insert the wind lines without outlines in their place - making a hole.
Maybe a better example is in the second image. If I choose to not have a "black outline" I can simply achieve this easily with a white outline around the lightning marks and NO outline around the cloud image. I am hoping to achieve the cutout AND the black outline around the image.

Thanks Garry.
A quick question - when I subtract one shape from another I had hoped the OUTLINE would also be subtracted - but it looks like only the shape itself minus the outline is subtracted. Is there another way to get this effect?

Wow - Garry - that has blown my mind. Thank you! This gives me some great options! I love how when you use the color fill tool the next object you create uses the same color profile - that is slick!
Now I am off to make a snowflake
These icons are for a desktop "skin" for a solution called Rainmeter for Windows that allows you to put gadgets on the desktop - like the weather. I decided I wanted to make my own weather icons - thanks!

Wow - thanks! I could not get the straight line color separation until I saw you do it. PERFECT! Thank you!

Hello - please see the images attached.
I would like to create this color effect, somehow, with ONE IMAGE instead of what I am doing which is slicing the cloud image in half then making each side a different color. To achieve the OUTLINE the outline function won't do - so I take a THIRD copy of the original and layer it on top to create the black line.
What I would like is to have the cloud be ONE OBJECT but of two colors - so I can easily cut out and use the built in OUTLINE function. Any experts here that can give me a plan of attack for this one?
Thanks!

That’s odd. Looks like it has rotated the text on the curve. It’s now under the curve whereas before it was above.
Yep. This is a bug. Along with the rotation not working around the rotation point. I feel like text needs a little tweaking.
I am still amazed at what I am able to create using just an iPad - this is an outstanding piece of software. I am just frustrated with text at the moment.

I’m confused, Mike. I thought you were saying pie slices don’t behave the same way as text does.
As I said, what makes the difference for me is not the object type but the rotation method.
Correct. Shapes do not behave the same as text for me on the iPad. Shapes perform as expected. For me text does not - I need to do the trick with the line to rotate around a circle

I don’t see any difference in AD on iPad between the behaviour of pie slices and the behaviour of text. In both cases a rotation of 30° produces a different result when performed via the Transform Studio instead of being performed (with the aid of a second finger to constrain the angle) by dragging the rotation paddle on the canvas.
Agreed. TEXT is where I am having an issue. Other objects, as I stated, behave the same.

Unfortunately I don't have the PC/Mac versions to compare operation. I wonder though how it determines the 'correct' rotation point if it doesn’t have a group to extend the 'objects' lowest node? Does it have a different anchor arrangement?
Hi! On the PC version when you move the rotation point of text it makes rotate actions rotate around that point. Objects on the iPad version such as pie slices or lines work correctly. Fir text though instead of rotating around the rotation point it rotates the text and the point itself. What is the point of a rotation point if not to be rotated around?

Thanks. While this works it is not required on the PC version. But - its not a huge deal. Does feel broken to me.
Thank you!

Hi - I placed a piece of text and moved it’s rotation center to the center of a circle. Next I duplicate the text. Then in the transform menu I change the degrees from 0 to 30. The entire text and it’s rotation point rotate 30 degrees instead of rotating the text around the rotation point.
I was able to use this method successfully with a cog object but the text object seems to not behave.

After you duplicated the donut segment, you selected the original object in the Layers panel. If you instead keep the duplicate selected and rotate it, you should find that subsequent duplicates are rotated by the same amount.
Cheers - thank you. I had thought I needed to do a select but it seems the duplicate is already selected after the action. I was a little confused as it puts it at the top of the layer list. All sorted out now!

Hi - Power Duplicate is not working for me. Could someone please take a look at the short video and tell me what I am doing wrong?

An alternative is this: Taco Dial.afdesign Saved with history so you can jog back and forth in the history panel.

Hello - WOW- in a word, WOW! I followed the history and there are a couple of things I am confused about:
1. When you copied the lines they move to precise locations around the image - how did you do that?
2. Moved Guide - what is this?
3. Transformed Focal Point - what is this?
4. Toward the end there are a few lines created and an image of the hash marks that are off the edge of the page at the right - how are these used?
Thanks so much!

Hi - edited previous post. I have solved it! The cog tool, make the lines dashed, then Layer > Expand Stroke. Then delete segments you don't need. Repeat with 48, 24, 12 spoke cogs made to look like lines.
NOTE: to preserve the dashed lines I found the following steps were required - Make Dashed > Layer > Expand Stroke > Divide. If I just did Divide first the shapes seemed like tiny filled rectangles.
Practice makes perfect - thank you all for pointing me in the right direction!

Thank you both! I am a convert - going to purchase the product.

Hi - I would like to know the best strategy for precisely dividing concentric circles and then slicing the results so I can selectively remove piece as I choose. Below is not the final image but gives an idea of what I am trying to accomplish. I am evaluating a few tools and would like to know if this tool is made to create these types of images. My end goal is to create some complex shapes like this for time tracking, make them into a PDF and then copy them to my e-ink note-taking device.
Question 1: Is this the right tool for these types of drawings?
Question 2: If so what is the best way to get the precise circle dividers? I thought about creating a line, copying it, then using the rotate parameter, then using the align center and middle commands, then repeat a bunch of times
Question 3: Once I have my lines on top of my concentric circles how to I slice them? I have struggled with lines interacting with shapes using the subtract and combine (probably operator error)
Thank you for your guidance!

I gotcha - thanks - I was missing the point of the layers. Thanks!
