It should be as simple as changing the Join from Mitre to Round...

I gave in and joined the beta to test out the Vector Fill Tool (but also very happy to see Brushes finally have their names displayed underneath AND don't get deselected when I modify them on the go)
So the drawing on the left was made in 2.0 with filled in shapes. For the drawing on the right I started off with vector lineart and then used the Vector Fill Tool with a couple of adjustments.

However, I had to convert the lineart into shapes for the Vector Fill tool to properly work. I later figured out it was because most lines didn't overlap so it didn't identify any space to fill in.

Would it be possible to include a tolerance slider for cases where the lines are very close but not quite overlapping? Or is that not possible?

Thanks, that did it. I had to go to View and then Customize Tools. I had been trying to right click on the Tools to try and customize it like you can on the Tool Bar. And of course I checked in the settings as well. I would suggest the team enable right click to customize on the tools as well. I find that more intuitive personally.

    Thanks again!

I’ve requested this as well, seems like a simple win in terms of UI/UX…

Hi Affinmac. I think you'll have a nice surprise coming very soon - and we didn't need to acquire anybody else to do it either

This wasn't fixed in the recent update. I had originally posted this in the Beta forum wrongly around a month ago.
If I create a shadow with the FX option and the color is already 100 K and then export a pdf, the color is actually a rich black. If you go back into publisher and go back to the shadow FX option and just move the K slider down and back up then it will honor K only upon export.
It's annoying when you click on the color and it is what you want so you leave it alone only to find out upon export it isn't right.

    Hi MajesticFlame,
This is an issue we are currently aware of, I've given it a nudge
    Thanks

Sometimes you want the headings/classifications repeated at the top of each column. (Flashback to wax as an adhesive. Man the old days sucked!) Hence my suggestion of using text Frames and then you could pin them wherever in the flow of text AND have them pinned at the top of the page. (Lord I do not miss the old days)

Gradients don't honor spot colors on pdf export.
If I create a gradient with spot colors and output to pdf the gradient will be CMYK even if I select to honor spot colors.
I was able to get around this by doing a solid color on the bottom, copying the object and pasting it on top, applying the secondary color with a transparency. Seems like a lot of extra work. I've attached a sample file. The top box is done with the gradient tool and the bottom one with my work around.

Smart workaround! – Unfortunately gradient swatches are not allowed as global swatches – whereas spot color swatches have to be global. Possibly this leads to the unexpected limitation for spot colors in gradients on export in AfPub.

Hm? – Even PDF/X-1a (PDF 1.3) does support spot colors.

Tried your test file on Windows.
Getting lots of freezes as you describe.

I experience with your .afpub an issue with text overflow for your pinned objects:
    – If I delete the pinned frame ('pets') in the right text frame then I can delete the middle frame without freeze.
    – Also, with 'pets', if I add a text frame on pasteboard and set text flow from your last text frame to the new one then I can delete the middle frame without freeze.
Instead using pinned objects you could simply define a paragraph style and define the text background color in the decoration section.

I can reproduce the freezing here and have logged it for the developers to look into.
It seems to be down to the pinned tables, as Bruce highlights there are better ways to achieve this, but it's still an issue we need to look into.
    Thanks

Another way would be to use a text frame with a background fill, but using decorations is better because it avoids the need for another text object entirely.

I actually started out doing it that way (paragraph styles) but for the life of me I couldn't get it to keep the entire line highlighted while keeping the text centered. Is there a way to make the entire background of the line black and keep the text centered?  The highlight/background color needs to go to the edge of the text frame (and not beyond) on both sides with the text remaining properly centered.

Edit: Never mind, found the decoration menu. Have no idea how I missed that in the first place. Oh well, at least I found a bug.

Hi All - not sure if this has been said already, but we will be putting a slide in the Publisher Beta welcome screen (Help -> Welcome) which will offer the pre-order for the additional discount for beta testers. This should go live tomorrow late afternoon / evening. This will allow anyone using the beta to claim that discount in the event they haven't received the email, and will also allow you to claim twice (or an additional time if you've already used your email voucher) if you want to get both the Window and Mac version at the beta tester price.
Note - there will be a pre-order offer slide appear in Photo and Designer tomorrow too, but it's only if you follow the link from the slide in the Publisher beta where you get the extra 10%
Hope that helps with some of these questions. We're incredibly grateful for all the support you have given us during the beta and are really keen to make sure you all get the opportunity to get the extra discount, and figured this was the best way to make that happen.
    Thanks,
    Ash
