  1. I know the one was after I expanded it for sure. The first photo I had deselected the line so it didn't have the selection/border line showing when I did the screenshot. Not sure why it went back to showing a solid line though, Went back to see if it did that once you deselected but it didn't. That was all I had on the page so I don't I couldn't have accidentally clicked on something else. So no idea.
  2. Thanks, I had it checked, you can see my previous settings in the screenshot but I went back and it worked this time. Maybe I needed to switch between two different joins to get it to correctly register. *Shrug*
  3. Is there a way to maintain round dots on corners with the balanced mode instead of them becoming teardrops? I noticed if you expand the stroke it will make them round, but for me two of the four corners messed up.
  4. Thanks, that did it. I had to go to View and then Customize Tools. I had been trying to right click on the Tools to try and customize it like you can on the Tool Bar. And of course I checked in the settings as well. I would suggest the team enable right click to customize on the tools as well. I find that more intuitive personally. Thanks again!
  5. Hello, I recently signed up for and downloaded the betas. I am on a Windows 10 machine. The vector fill tool is not showing up for me in the toolbar but it is available using the keyboard shortcut? I imported the settings from the retail release and thought maybe that caused the issue but resetting the application did not make it appear. Any ideas on what may be causing the issue. Also is there a way to have fills be kept as a group or a single vector object? I know I can do it manually but it would be very convenient to create masks for patterns/textures. Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.
  6. This wasn't fixed in the recent update. I had originally posted this in the Beta forum wrongly around a month ago. If I create a shadow with the FX option and the color is already 100 K and then export a pdf, the color is actually a rich black. If you go back into publisher and go back to the shadow FX option and just move the K slider down and back up then it will honor K only upon export. It's annoying when you click on the color and it is what you want so you leave it alone only to find out upon export it isn't right.
  7. EDIT, shouldn't be posted in the Beta Forum, this should actually be in the retail release forum. My apologies. If I create a shadow with the FX option and the color is already 100 K and then export a pdf, the color is actually a rich black. If you go back into publisher and go back to the shadow FX option and just move the K slider down and back up then it will honor K only upon export. Just a small bug I thought I'd report. It's annoying when you click on the color and it is what you want so you leave it alone only to find out upon export it isn't right.
  8. They still do layout with wax here and we get to redo the layout in InDesign. Then we have to try and fit classifieds in-between all the ads. We don't need to have the headings at the top since they are flowing in-between everything. I was hoping to be able to do layout in Publisher but since it doesn't support font passthrough with pdfs we can't use it for that yet.
  9. Where I work currently we mostly use CMYK but in my past job we used spot colors all the time. I was just testing out how Publisher did with spot colors, haven't been using it much for actual production work yet. At my past job we printed a lot of 2 color jobs with colors that would be hard or impossible to accurately print in CMYK.
  10. If you check out the pdf you'll see that the box I did at the bottom is spot colors. (If you have a viewer that shows separations anyway) It's only the one I created with the gradient tool that is CMYK.
  11. Gradients don't honor spot colors on pdf export. If I create a gradient with spot colors and output to pdf the gradient will be CMYK even if I select to honor spot colors. I was able to get around this by doing a solid color on the bottom, copying the object and pasting it on top, applying the secondary color with a transparency. Seems like a lot of extra work. I've attached a sample file. The top box is done with the gradient tool and the bottom one with my work around. SpotTest.pdf
  12. I actually started out doing it that way (paragraph styles) but for the life of me I couldn't get it to keep the entire line highlighted while keeping the text centered. Is there a way to make the entire background of the line black and keep the text centered? The highlight/background color needs to go to the edge of the text frame (and not beyond) on both sides with the text remaining properly centered. Edit: Never mind, found the decoration menu. Have no idea how I missed that in the first place. Oh well, at least I found a bug.
  13. I have been messing around with flowing text and using a table for headers for classifieds. I have issues with the program freezing (Not Responding) if I delete one of the text boxes. Not every single time but frequently. The pinned headlines also don't always reappear after deleting or and restoring a text box. I have attached a test file. It seems to happen most if it is a middle or beginning box. TEST.afpub
  14. The PDF you created printed fine. The one I exported using the default 'For Print' settings gave me the "This document could not be printed" again. Disabling Subset Fonts did allow it to print. I've attached both the first file I exported using the default settings and the one with No Subset Fonts as well. Test1-6Document.pdf Test1-6DocumentNoSubset.pdf Note, I don't have any PDFs from the earlier betas so I can't attach any files for that. Sorry.
  15. It worked fine in previous versions of the beta. I hadn't used it for awhile so I don't know exactly which version started causing the issue.
  16. PDF toolbox would work but they won't purchase that either. Anything that they MIGHT be willing to buy needs to be cheap. And since InDesign CS3 still works fine with Acrobat Professional 8 they would just stick with that. We have to check color seps for any problems before they go off to the printer. We send the files and the plates get made and thrown on the press almost immediately so things can get missed easily so we like to verify things are correct in case the printer misses something. We used to use a printer where we could do that on their proofing system but the new printer doesn't do that. They switched due to cost, new printer is quite a bit cheaper I guess. I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions though. Thanks!
  17. Did print fine in Reader DC. Still hoping it can be fixed for 8 though, especially since it used to work and it could cause issues with other PDF readers. Might be able to get them (employer) to buy Publisher when it is released but there is no way they'll pay for subscriptions for DC pro. Who knows, maybe I'll be working elsewhere by then.
  18. Tried and still a no go. I've actually went ahead and tried all the modes. Two work, flatten and web, neither which we would use. Hopefully that can help narrow down the issue though
  19. I just tried it on a Mac that has a fresh install of acrobat and the problem still persists. Please note this is on Acrobat Professional 8. It doesn't have any issues with PDFs made by InDesign CS3. I haven't tried to print anything from Publisher in a few updates so it may be a recent change that caused the issue. I know the PDF files I made in earlier versions of the beta printed fine. Edit: I have tried printing on 4 computers with Acrobat 8 and they all have the issue.
  20. Here are the files. I just used the default PDF settings for print for this PDF. Did print through the Mac preview app but still a no go in acrobat. Test.afpub Test.pdf
  21. Right now I'm having an issue where all exported PDFs that have text won't print. To verify this I made a document with text only. It exports fine and displays in acrobat correctly, but as soon as I try to print acrobat gives a "This document could not be printed" error. Note I tried a variety of fonts. I also tried printing from other computers and I get the same error. If I convert all text to areas/curves it works fine. So it seems to be directly related to fonts. Any ideas?
