Cecil reacted to Alfred in Jim Galliher
I’m confused now. I thought your name was Jim! 😛
By the way, you’re not by any means the only forum member to misunderstand the purpose of the ‘Title’ box which is displayed when you create a thread. Rather than putting your name in there (or, indeed, a title such as ‘Mr’ or ‘Dr’) you should provide a descriptive title for the topic that you’re writing about. You can change the topic title of a thread at any time, as long as the thread was created by you and hasn’t been locked by a moderator: use the ‘Edit’ link at the bottom of your original post to do this.

Cecil got a reaction from Joachim_L in Saving print presets in Publisher (including setting Range)
Certainly language issue as many Official forms in the US use Title to address: Mr, Mrs, and now many other categories, not to offend anyone. Subject was just suggestion, Question or Problem or any that would prevent the numerous post of first names, or Mr, etc.

The comment was made that Title should be changed to Subject to prevent the daily post of me, Mr. Todd, Jake, etc. this creates another post do someone posting to change their Title to Subject to receive a meaningful post.

Be nice to auto populate the application and OS when creating the new topic.

Cecil reacted to John Rostron in Mr.
@Rob Hartman, Welcome to the forums. You are not the first (nor will you be the last) to put 'Mr' (or 'Mrs') for a Title. This really should be labelled 'Subject' rather than 'Title'. In your case I would suggest you use 'Coloring the background of the Frame Text Tool'. Using a descriptive title is likely to bring in helpful replies (rather than nit-pickers like me).
If you wish, you can edit your Title. In your original posting, click on the Edit link near the bottom, and you can change it from there.

Cecil reacted to walt.farrell in How to show 2 separate documents of screen
Even if Serif were to (someday) require specification of application and OS, users will sometimes get it wrong. Just as they do today when they post Publisher problems in Designer forums, or vice versa. Or say they're using Designer but then give a screenshot from Publisher (or, again, vice versa).

Just add fly out when creating new post to add Application & OS, lol.

Cecil reacted to R C-R in Poll Desktop (Question MAC & Windows) Application & OS
Your reply in no way is an answer to what I asked. Either it requires training or it doesn't. Which is it?

Cecil got a reaction from R C-R in Poll Desktop (Question MAC & Windows) Application & OS
As it would be a change requested for so loooooooog, it would amaze many that Serif heard their cry for change and implemented.

But you have no idea if or how that actually would enable anyone to quickly scroll through or otherwise facilitate anyone finding the topics that are only or mostly applicable to Publisher, Designer, or Photo.

I reduced it down fro one hour to 15 seconds for those with a beer or cup of tea in hand.😊
All post would still be posted as now. The only difference, for those wishing to screen for specific application and OS, the user identified application and OS selected would be applied to post. For example, if you own AP only, you may or may not wish to read a topic on art boards or master pages, your choice.

Waite a week or two and another will emerge with their thematic distinction and taxonomic classifications.

@sandie26 Kindle and Apple Books have some excellent ebooks, many offer discounts. I suggests these if you have a tablet and can use the eBooks, as you work on your Desktop. Udemy is another excellent tutorial source, Simon Foster.

Ok, I have Procreate as well and I think this is a Future Request, not a AP iPadOS bug.

When you go to MAS on Laptop, search Affinity Photo, does it ask if you want to open? If yes and you saved your Apple ID to Apple Password & Accounts, go their and copy you ID and Password. Go to desktop, sign out and sign in with the copied ID and Password. Just a suggestion to mitigate the possibility that you used a different account and password.

Cecil got a reaction from R C-R in Break up this forum?
I did, in my initial suggestion, used the word mandatory; however, it was used to imply that if the forum changed their format, one would have to click applicable application and OS. In this case, it would be mandatory for user to continue.

In the context that 1) he was suggesting something I did not state 2) if one needs to create new Topic they will provide requested information, not mandatory or required, as it not required or mandatory to post question.
Silly game playing on words to submit a post without providing, IMHO, meaningful contribution to subject. I see you did get a symbolic trophy from it, congrats.

How is the meaning of ‘forced’, ‘required’ or ‘mandatory’ affected by any of that?

Cecil reacted to R C-R in Break up this forum?
While this forum could be considered as an instructional aid of a sort, its structure closely follows the well established one of an online support forum familiar to many users.
It also provides a number features like streams, several notification options, & (lame as it is) a search feature to assist users in getting the most out of it.

@R C-R forced may be substituted with required as currently used in creating New Topic.
Current Procedure using iPad Pro: + Create, Topic, Select Forum, select (example selection) Affinity on Desktop (MAC & Windows), Continue, Title (Required).
I suggest just adding one more multiple required selection: Affinity Program, could be programmed for fly out with all Affinity products to select and after selection, pop out menu to click appropriate OS, each a simple check selection.
I believe, if implemented, the initial response would improve as post identifies the Affinity program and OS, eliminating the numerous initial response: maybe someone could assist you if you post the program and OS. All post would be posted, as now, preventing missing tons of helpful information relevant! If tags were used. I don’t think this would add hoops or discourage new users, it may assist them in getting proper reply, first attempt.
The initial post would identify the program and OS in question, eliminating the many unnecessary responses we read daily: on Windows using command works ... I’m not sure how it works on MAC or similar response, MAC users may post.

Cecil got a reaction from Dan C in Apple Photo (Catalina 10.15.1) v Affinity editing Still Not Working
@R C-R all valid points. I still think a basic, Apple Photos, Edit In, Edit With, and actions required to save, share or export would be beneficial. The tutorial could also instruct user on some of your points, AP, Apple Photos and iCloud requirements. I do understand the serious nature the world is facing and this is not one of them. I understand that this is macOS Problem and tutorials are focus on all platforms. Be safe.
