How did you get the cat to look like this and what did you do to get it that way?

How do I do an abstract background on affinity designer or photo using the iPad? And what tools do I use to make that happen because I want to make a similar design look like the cat as shown above but not quite. Want to make it look artistic.

Do I do the posterize first and then the gradient map? Also how would I incorporate shapes into the image to make it look similar to the picture?
