When I crop the head after that how do I use the smart selection tool to delete the unwanted parts of the photo?

I tried the disco cat and when I added the arms like they are I got stuck. Using a real cat image like the one below, and a different cat image I don’t know how to do that and put in a real image with it and only the cat without the background. thats the one I want to focus on right now, so help me out thanks so much.

How do I trace parts of an image and put it with different images such as a cat? or if I want part of the real cat image how would I do that? i want to attach different parts of real images together and colored ones.. i know there is a way to do it but I haven’t figured it out.
