I get that I did position the letters then did my background but am stumped as how to fill in the gaps, I’ve tried every which way and am still stuck.

So don’t use the pen tool for the background? how would I join the letters after I do the background so it looks similar to the image? would you be able to show me in a video? thanks

I want to be able to create a background behind the text and want to know if there are different ways to do it where it is not so difficult and time consuming? I want to be able to create my own designs as well that is why I’m asking.
