[Mac mini M1 Permissions: CAN launch Photo; CAN'T launch DEISGNER; Read & Write allowed on both]

[Mac mini M1 Permissions: CAN launch Photo; CAN'T launch DEISGNER; Read & Write allowed on both]

I have a new Mac mini M1, running macOS 11.3. A few days ago I downloaded and installed Affinity Designer & Photo, which I had previously used on my MacBook Pro.

At first, Photo 1.9.3 failed to launch, displaying an alert that says I do not have permissions. I got info, and changed admin from Read to Read & Write. Afterward, I restarted. Then the app opened normally.

With Designer, the same set of steps did not yield any change. Now, I want to completely uninstall & reinstall, but I can’t find an uninstaller, nor any instructions. Old MacBook Pro is under repair. 

Useful suggestions, anyone?

Judging by all that I’ve read, eventually AD will be an app I’m very happy with. Eventually. Now however, I feel annoyed with the need to find documentation for every single action. (1987 was my Illustrator birth year.) I think that if they tackled this problem better, they could increase adoption more quickly.

We all realize that a printed printed manual might be a little silly nowadays; nevertheless some of us are moe accustomed to learning these things via the written, formatted, and pictorially enhanced word. I for one, really hate the early learning by video tutorial, and anyway regardless of what the youguns may be used to, reading a well written “from the compass to the world” how-to book makes for much more effective learning.
