Hi finally solved the problem with a complete and thorough uninstallation of all program files of both the release version and beta versions (using CleanmyMac) and then reinstallation.
Lost plugins etc but live projection now seems to be working properly.

Ok can get some function (very subtle ) by turning of Metal support and then turning it back on in preferences.(requires restart in each case)
