You do not need to put both curves on the same layer. The Join Curves action will do that for you.
Dang! You are correct, Sir! Though you have to do it carefully, you can "Join" two points. After that, you can just drag points to join (for ppl reading in the future).
My only complaint is that when you initially join, you get this spaghetti loop that you hafta clean up.

Okay, I'm not sure which way you mean this. I'm guessing you want the two paths to become one with all the nodes from each path included. It's actually quite simple if you know the procedure. When in the node tool select the two nodes you want attached. These must be end (or start) nodes, not middle nodes. If no nodes are selected this process will attach the two closest end/start nodes. Then just click the Join curves icon in the Action group of the context toolbar.
Thanks for the reply @Gear maker!
Joining two nodes isnt the problem. My issue is getting path layer #1 combined with path layer #2 so I can THEN JOIN them exactly as you courteously explained. Thx again.

I'm trying to join two unconnected paths from two different layers. I realize I have to (some how) get them to the same layer. So it seems my problem is combining paths from one layer to another. I've tried grouping, sub-grouping, copy/pasting, etc.
No bueno. =[
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Update: I remembered now about the Assitant Manager notification.
If you take your vectors into Pixel Persona and THEN start painting, Affinity will automatically create a pixel layer AND nest it accordingly.
The helpful Assistant Mgr pop-up tells you that he just did that for you.
Kbye.

Oh hey, one more question. Is the custom brush resolution always so poor? I created the brush with a huge PNG but the result looks like I used a much smaller image.

@iconoclast FANTASTIC!! I watched about 5 YT vids and nobody mentioned that little detail. 😊
Thank you so much!

I have this great gouache brush that I'd like to change the default settings. So I select the brush, change the size, opacity, flow, etc. Then in the brush panel I select "New Brush from Selection". But the saved brush is *nothing* like my original.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I hope my ?? makes sense.
Edit: When I use the "More" button to change the settings, it just ignores me. =[

I'm trying to integrate more raster into my vector (comfort zone) work.
As I recall, if you select the Pixel Layer icon in the (Designer Persona) layer panel... you'd get a message saying something like "Hey! you're adding a pixel layer!" and then when you went to the Pixel Persona, you'd see your vector layer as a mask over your brush work.
Nada.
I see neither of those things anymore. Isn't it supposed to automatically switch to raster mode?
So confused. Did I turn something off?

How can I specifically scale an object/group by 420% ?
That's all. I see where I can input Rotation and Shear(?!) values, but not Scale.

I dunno how I did this, but I have this really nice "noise fill" in one of my documents and I don't know how I made it. (this is an month old doc I had to revisit.)
You can see in the attached screenshot that it has no FX either. Totally confused.

Is it possible to copy the color balance settings from one layer to another? I sure can't figure it out. =[

What I mean is there is no provision to make one. There is for Break Curve & Join Curves in the Node Tool section of keyboard preferences, but not for the other 2 "Action" items.
Dude!! "Join Curve" is almost as good! Sure you have to drag-select with the direct select arrow, but it still saves a few keystrokes.
"Node Tool section" - now it makes perfect sense. =]
Thx much @R C-R

Generally, the keyboard shortcuts are for items in the menu, and in the Tools panel. Or perhaps in the Toolbar in a few cases. They are not for items in the Context Toolbar.
Oh well. Thx @walt.farrell 👍

Changing the end nodes to "sharp" changes the integrity of the original curve; but I see where you're going with this. Thanks.
