I haven't had bounce since 2004, I know I had it when I went shopping at Bounce 'R' Us but it's all a blur after that. I've heard that vitamin B12, aka Bounce12 can get it back.

Yes, we can. – You simply need to use one of the two Align ... Spine options:

    Welcome to the forums
You can download the old styles from the attachment on this post. You can them import them into 1.7.

    Thanks.
In that case, I'd have to say that @Old Bruce's suggestion is a close match to my first idea, at least to handle the page size issue.
Make a version of the document sized for A4, as that will fit completely within a Legal page. Lay it out completely, generate your PDF, and then change the size of all the spreads (using the Spread Setup dialog) to change the pages to Legal size, leaving the contents anchored to the center of the page.
That will give you bigger margins on all 4 sides, but is your simplest approach. You could also choose to rescale, but that may have a quality effect, especially if you rework the document multiple times. (I'm not sure of that, but I think it's a possibility. So I, personally, would accept the bigger margins.)
For the languages, I would try something like this. Note that this is simplified, and assuming that, for example, each page will have an image and some text.
You will setup a Master Page that will supply a Picture Frame for the image, and apply that to each page. You will also supply one additional Master Page per language. On that Master Page, in a location appropriate to where the Picture Frame is on the first Master, you will place a Text Frame to hold that language's text. You will then apply the English Master Page to all the document pages, and enter the English text into the frames. Next, you will return to the English Master Page, and in the Layers panel you will hide the Text Frame. You will then apply the German Master Page to all the document pages, and enter the German text into the frames. At that point, each page has two different languages on it, but only German is visible.
    Export your German PDF.
Return to the German Master Page, and hide the Text Frame.
Return to the English Master Page, and unhide the Text Frame. Now only English is visible on each document page.
    Export your English PDF.
With this approach you end up with a single .afpub document that you can switch between A4 and Legal, and separately between English and German. From it you can generate 4 different PDFs (two sizes of English, and two sizes of German).

Switching between the Designer and Photo personas in Publisher is even sweeter with a keyboard shortcut.
I've set mine to Control + D and Control + P (on the Mac), but you can set your own to whatever you like. Then change the shortcut set from Publisher to either Designer or Photo and add a shortcut for the Publisher persona. I chose Control + R.
    Enjoy!

Kimbo reacted to Chezqui in I've broken affinity designer ;(
I'm working on an image of a crane. As you might imagine quite a few lines. I wanted to move the jib illustration components onto a new layer so that I could isolate it. I shift selected the lines/curves that I wanted and tried to move them. Now I can't deselect, move, zoom in, zoom out etc. without the gib disappearing. I started a new section with the pen tool and the jib disappeared. When I go to edit the first option is undo delete - but I'm not deleting. I have restarted AD then restarted the Mac, quit everything else. I can't print it, copy or paste - I'm stuffed unless someone can help.
I can see the entire image at 15% but anything closer and a white box covers the top part of the image in the left side.

    Any thoughts?

Being in Australia, colour = colour and localization = localisation, as for the spelled and spelt, we allow you to make up your own mind.
but nuff about that, we are now a few days in and I have all three affinity programs and am loving it, I love the studiolink and can't wait for the Publisher Workbook ( I will sacrifice my budget for the postage).
    Absolutely fabulous job guys.

Ok so this is gonna sound really weird and stupid, but I duplicated an existing master and put different content on it, and applied it to various pages, and found that in the page tab (normal page), I had to double click the page to make the changes show up.
Beyond this I am completely out of advice
But have learned heaps in this process, so thank you.

I fully accept that a large number of professional designers are working on Apple machines using Adobe products. It has been that way for a long time. I believe that Serif from a marketing perspective alone has not put all that effort into developing windows apps, to quit anytime soon. Adobe is pricing slowly pricing itself out of the market and programs such as the Affinity suite or "unholy trinity" as I like to call them, have made a high end product available to everyone regardless of using windows or mac.
I feel the presentation was about the product, not the machine it gets used on.
Now let's talk Linux, cause lets face it, if these programs were available on Linux, that is where you would find me.

working on the premise that you have a picture frame on your master page "without" a contour/border.
On your normal page, in the layers panel you can select the master page layer and right click, edit detached. This will add a orange bar to the top of window advising you that you are in edit detached mode. You should now be able to edit the picture frame for that page only, then click finished on the orange bar at the top of the window. The edit detached function allows you to edit master page elements for that single normal page.
    Hope this helps.

Presenting for 30 minutes live takes a lot of guts and to criticize the lack of hardware used is in my opinion unfair. This was a live event broadcast worldwide by the small creative team in  a company of less than 100 people. To add another change of hardware into that presentation might have broken the flow. It doesn't in anyway represent the efforts to improve all the users experience with the software. It was just a presentation, not a report on the programming undertaken.
However, you have hit upon a fair point about how important metal is to Mac performance. It's not something we control, but it's incredibly useful as a tool.
If you look at this thread the difficulty implementing Windows equivalents are discussed in detail by the Windows project lead. To imply that we have said nothing in this subject is in my opinion unfair. We are working hard on this.

You have come to the right place!!   These forums are chock full of explanations and tips, and there are wonderful people who are constantly helping others sort out problems, or explain "how to..."    Once you get your computer set up and turn it on and "GASP!   What do I do now?" is possibly your first reaction, just remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

You can use mouse middle button as a hand tool even when you're in a text frame, but it's actually better since you have to press only one key and not two.
After you place an image, you can convert it to a frame picture (check toolbar or right mouse click menu). The frame picture has a lot of features to control both the image and the frame so easily once you figure it out.

Hello Everyone. I am Stratos from Greece and these are a couple of abstract posters I created in order to decorate our offices. So far I have created 5 and these are the first two that will go out to be printed.
Fan fact: almost half of all posters were designed on an iPad while on the go ;-)
Love Affinity software so far and we are transitioning from Adobe and Corel to Affinity, fast and surely :)
    Kind Regards

    Hey again :-)

I do transit maps (diagrams) for fun in my spare time to relax.

Here is another one of my recent works: the Sarajevo Tram and Trolleybus Network in my own interpretation (unofficial of course).
By the way: there is no official diagram and a pride month edition as there aren't official colors too.

The whole map is entirely done with Affinity Designer.
If you have any thoughts on it or feedack this is much appreciated.

    Have a great day!

Was just testing some new things in Affinity Designer 1.7.1 and had this random blob (curve) on the screen, and it looked like an animal, so —a tiny bit later— this came out. Tested the new stroke arrow options too (the feet).

The vectorised voronoi pattern was generated with CINEMA 4D, rendered out, passed through "potrace", and then imported as curve into Affinity Designer. Not sure that's the best way, but works for me.

    Hi Patrick,
Really looking forward to getting my pre-ordered copy. Currently using a Beta for 'non-critical' tasks. Can't wait to ditch InDesign CS6. Would also like to watch the launch presentation but it starts at 3:15 am down under – I guess that maps the  limit of my enthusiasm. Will it be possible to watch a replay of the presentation say the next day?
