  1. I am sure you used to be able to click the font size box and drag left or right to increase font size, much like you can in the Character toolbox for things. What ever happened to this? It was very useful.

Also, talking of the Character box, you can do the above on some of the Positioning and Transition options, but not all. Why is this?

Can we get these added/re-added? They are very useful.

  2. I first reported this over a year ago - April 2019.

Is there any movement at all on it?

It's very disruptive to workflow to have to zoom in and out of every image to check the borders, as it always looks like images aren't lined up due to this transparency issue, so you have to double-check every image.

    Hello gizmo2501,

I don't know if this will work for you, but you can try "Background Colour" in the "Character" tab of the studio. The highlighting automatically adapts to the text you can change, and you can choose its color.
The only problem in your case is that it sticks to the text on the right and on the left, you can type a space before and after the text to enlarge the rectangle horizontally (possibly changing the font size for these two spaces).

    Ahha! Great! That worked!

I can't believe I didn't see that box before. So obvious now.

    Thanks for your help!

Hopefully they will add an option to pad the background from top and bottom in the future.

There would be a quicker way if you also have APu installed. There you can make different boxes with padding, fill etc. put all in a Styles Category and import this Style Category in AP ... but there is a bug in this. The vertical alignment information gets lost on the way from APu to AP. So you have to Edit in Publisher again.

Thanks, that's useful information for the future! May have to get Publisher now to see these other tricks.

  5. Hi there,

I wondered if anyone can help with this in Affinity Photo.

I often create graphics with text that have coloured rectangle boxes behind them. I have been doing this manually - adding a text layer, then adding a rectangle layer, making it the right size, aligning it with the text and then colouring.

Does anyone know of a quicker way to do this, preferably so that you can auto-align and choose the padding around the text for the box?

I have attached the kind of thing I am talking about.

    Thank you!

  6. How are you even getting this new document screen? I am on 1.8.0.532 on Windows and don't have it. Is this Mac only?

Can you tell me - I am hoping that we can choose particular documents to be in the Templates area. I work from the same documents as templates regularly, and it would save a lot of time to determine those documents as templates to open from.

If not, can I make that as a suggestion? Or suggest to add a Favourites page.

    Hi both,

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

Can you please attach the afphoto and the export file so we can have a look? The white lines should only be a visual artefact and not make it to export.

    Thanks,
    Gabe.

    Hi Gabe,

Apologies, I didn't keep the file where it was an issue on export. But I'll keep an eye out for it in the future and send over the file if/when it happens again!

Is there any news on when the visual artefact will be fixed? It's a tad annoying, as I have to keep checking if the artefact is present or not when working on my images - it makes it not trustworthy!

  8. Apologies if this is a really basic question and an easy fix, I am just learning Designer, and can't seem to find a way!

I have a curve layer that I gave a stroke to. It is set to just have a standard line at the start and the end. My problem is there is a big gap between the start and end point, and I can't find a way for it to be filled (effectively so the stroke has no end).

I have this same problem in another image where I used the Ellipse tool, gave it a stroke, and then a gap was left at the top of the circle.

Any help would be very much appreciated!1336797446_Circlegap.thumb.jpg.81c010591d3fdf523d39daf5ad0f1b16.jpg

  9. Firstly, I LOVE the new (at least, I think it's new) stock image browser. It is incredibly helpful and has cut workflow time down so much for some things I do. So thank you for adding it!

I would love it if there was a way to make the stock images bigger, though, as they are pretty small at the moment. Obviously having all images bigger would increase the loading time and strain on servers, so I am thinking maybe it would be good to have it work whereby if you click the image or hover over it for a certain amount of time, it would open a bigger preview in a pop-out window, or something.

Thanks again for adding this great feature!

  10. As per the pre-1.7 thread here -

All images get a transparent border.

The issue of the previous thread remains - that when you zoom in and out, at certain zoom levels, images within a file get transparent borders of a pixel or two, making it seem as though images are not correctly placed.

It was originally thought that this transparent border was a visual issue only, but I have noticed upon exporting images that sometimes the transparency is baked in to the exported file. Sometimes it is not. So there may be two issues, here.
