  1. oh ok.. I see. I have to check AD then, when it comes to selecting fonts from within the program. Checking.... Checking... ah okay, i can confirm it: Those fonts are there within AD. I didn't realize they would automatically show up within the programs font selections- i thought I had to do something else to make it show up.. thanks for the assistance @Alfred
  2. nope- when i go to the options and import fonts- nothing.. even when i click on 'on this iPad' instead of 'iCloud' what i find there is ghosted out and not able to be selected.
  3. I thought it did follow the instructions but I must have missed something. lol
  4. thanks @Alfred ! I will give it a try.. I have AnyFont on my iPad and i got a handful of fonts off of there.. but still can't get them on Designer even with a profile- i must be missing a step or something- but I will say that I have not tried to put it on the iCloud yet- I will have to try that.
  5. Since March I have found a whole host of free fonts that have OT features to it- but now my problems lies in 'importing' them to Designer from the import font part of the options... I go to 'on my iPad' and i cannot for the life of me find anything that is selectable- what ever I do find is ghosted out so you can't click on it.
  6. Okay, fair enough. Thank you, and I appreciate the prompt responses to my inquiries. It's good to see prompt responses in forum posting. As I said before- I'm still familiarizing and learning this app on the ipad pro.. so in due time, I will get the hang of it. and in the meant time, I will also ask around or search rather, for any OT fonts that affinity on the ipad supports.
  7. Looks like none of the default fonts that come with the program have opentype.. i found none that can do swashes or stylistic alterations.. most have super text or sub text or annotation features- What is the font you used in your screen shot? Is there a good font source that will work with Affinity Designer on the iPad Pro that supports opentype?
  8. Oh I see.. Thanks! It would have been nice if the Tutorial video stated that.. the impression i got was that it can do this with whatever font you have selected.
  9. This post is in regards to the Advanced Typography Tutorial video.. when i click the type icon and pull up the menu, then hit the typography button, then hit the 'OpenType" button, it pulls down the menu but it only has Figure Positions and Capitals- See attached screenshot from my iPad.. I do have the up to date current version of Affinity Designer.. Is the advanced typography menus off by default like the 'rotate canvas'???? it's very annoying paying the full amount and it not having the full features as demonstrated in the Tutorial videos. Or am I missing something? I am still learning this app after all. Thanks
  10. Ah! I see. So, you convert the desired selected letters to curves- thereby making it a vector object rather than a type? Then this paves the way to allow the for Boolean operations on the letters! I had a feeling there was a way- or should I say- I am really glad there is a way! Thanks for the help @MEB! and I think this answers my other question. Suppose I want to have fat block letters, where the face of the letters is used to place a photo or graphic image. Would you convert the letters to curve then group select the inside spaces of the lettering and bring in an image, as was shown on the Tutorial with the blank Bill board?
  11. Hello, new Affinity Designer on the iPad Pro user here, so allow me to apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered in a previous post- I would rather ask now than surf. I am still learning the features and controls of this wonderful and versatile program- but I was wondering if we can Add, Subtract, Divide, and Combine Text fonts with vector shapes/objects? There are a lot of graphic logo Designs out there that require the actual letters or type of the logo to be 'cut' or broken (as in your text is like shattered glass) One other example is the Logo for Mass Effect 2 or 3 how it has the horizon line of a planet cutting thru it.. But I guess the main point of my question is can Affinity treat Type as a vector object that can be Boolean into pieces? I tried to select an object and a text and it wouldn't let me select both, so that I could do a Boolean operation. So how would you make a logo (text) that has been shattered like glass, as if a rock was thrown through it and the pieces have to be moved to create a sense action? I would hope that each of the bits will become a new vector object you can move and reposition.
