[DXF or DWG file import in Affinity Designer]

We need to keep this topic live, so here is my two cents   I have recently bought complete Affinity software with the intention to stop my Adobe CC subscription. So far, so good. But as other people above I often work with CNC cutter. My is Silhoulete plotter and the software only supports DXF import.

I think I can survive with online converters, but direct support in Affinity bundle would really be welcome. I recently convinced whole pre-press studio to take a look at the bundle. They have old Adobe CS suite and they consider shifting to Affinity too. Also, DXF support for daily use is a mandatory there. By the way, you really make a good impression by Furrier Transform filtr in Photo, they often scan old newspaper images and this feature is lifesaver for them...

 

So, please! Add DXF support ❤️

I don't think it should necessarily be such a battle. I believe Serif can deliver decent alternative for semi-pro and amateur tools capable of pro-level results. For a fraction of costs in comparison to Adobe monopoly.

Every now and then people are asking me what SW they should use for personal level editing of photos and documents. Not much alternatives there...

That's true. But so far there were no option. Affinity software costs just a month worth of Adobe CC subscription (complete package). I have already switched some minor repeating projects into Designer and so far so good. Few struggles with bleeding settings from Illustrator. I look forward to trying Publisher more.

I have some older catalogues and nice presets there, but I barely use it anymore. It was good back then thanks to connection to iPhoto and to cloud services. I hate switching through different systems. Photos are good enough for everything, the only missing thing is batch processing which – if introduced – would solve all my troubles...

As for Affinity Photo – I love the implementation into photos, cloud and iPad version. In Affinity Designer, the iPad app is very good. If iPad app for Publisher comes one day, my life will be all sunshine

Hi all, I second that request for at least partial InDesign support too. 

I have paid Adobe CC complete package for couple of years now and I'm getting tired of theirs pricing policy, specially when using only couple of apps of theirs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Audition, Lightroom and few more occasionally. I have been using these products for last 25 years quite happily. But with CC, everything changed.

Thanks to Affinity and Apple, I have substitutes for almost all of Adobe SW I use on regular basis, but InDesign. I have learned about Affinity Publisher just today, and I jumped in excitement that there might finally be a way out for me  I don't really need full indd support, just to convert my older files and live without Adobe for the rest of my life or until they introduce more flexible pay model.

For those looking for similar switch from Adobe, here is what I'm quite satisfied with.

• Illustrator > Affinity Designer
• Lightroom > Apple Photos, Apple Aperture
• Premiere > Apple iMovie (limited, but good enough for me)
• Audition > Apple GarageBand 
• Dreamweaver > netBeans
• Photoshop > Affinity Photo, Apple Photos, Apple Preview
