iPad Pro Version of Affinity Designer
anon1 replied to JamToak's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Is Affinity already using Metal on OS X? -
Yeah thank you, makes perfectly sense. Maybe you could start out with the average of a bigger area so that it doesn't take every single pixel into account that you hover over but recalculated as much detail as possible without much lag? And keeping the cursor for a few seconds over one place would then lead to the pixel perfect view? - well you'll know more about this than I do, looking forward to any improvements!

What I don´t understand: I´ve got a 24MP scanned image of a jeans (Yeah really) And I´ve applied quite a few adjustments to it - your color picker is now hardly usable. It really stutters heavily! (It already did so in all previous versions). I dropped MEB the file some time ago. I just tried it out again and your color picker is still that slow. But then I used the Apple color picker and that was just 100% responsive. That made me think again....Maybe there is an easy solution to fix this? If Apple Color Picker can see all the color immediately, why not your color picker?

RAM usuage
anon1 replied to Gear maker's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
As I said, it won't make much difference in the normal use. And it's also not too bad for the panorama stitching because it only has to be done once and when it's finished you can save and reopen the file and the RAM will be fine again. -

8GB But the 120MP panorama was even quite difficult on the iMac with 32GB but RAM doesn't make much of a difference there anyway. I found out that noise reduction/ addition and USM live filters are really heavy. I always try to apply them in the end or disable them temporally cause they just make the app so unresponsive, even with a 24MP picture. But I also set the view quality to the best settings. -

I only ran out of ram once on my MB during panorama stitching where the MacBook hat to write on the SSD. Generally AP/ AD don't cach much cause it's all live... -

And I bet there are internal OS level ram shedulers that prevent any app from taking away the most basic system resources. On my macs the RAM is correctly set to 8 and 32GB so it works for me.... -
Thank you very much Herbert. This effort is truly noteworthy! I think this (layer cloning) could come along with symbols? They're somehow very similar?! Although this seems quite fancy I´m not sure if it really is very relevant. But layer clones are nice overall ;) bottomline - from what you´ve said photoline definitely is a great application for some things but just looking at the interface...IMO not very user friendly or nice to look at. Just my opinion. Overall I think photoline lacks some serious marketing because some of its functions might be really good. I don´t wanna dive into argumentations here, just my quick opinion.

I also absolutely second Chris request.

I forgot the ability to merge masks. Doing it with channels is not very comfortable. And when I modify a mask with a live adjustment layer and I want to merge them in a destructive way, I don't know how to do it. I tried selecting both and choosing "merge selected" but it was greyed out. - I'll make a PDF with all these stuff as there's so much round here that I'll probably have to repeat these things some more in the future :)
