there is now an article about color spaces/ conversion https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/33820-color-profiles-management-eg-srgb-adobergb/?p=165094 and also about my experience using soft proof, not using cmyk though @bleduc what you describe is basically clipping all RGB values to your cmyk gamut and thus preventing colors going weird after converting into cmyk again. @Flaz "Relative colourimetric" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_management#Rendering_intent see here :) If you work in AdobeRGB and then convert into CYMK you can get out of gamut colors (which are not in the gamut of your monitor) and thus you do not know how the print will look exactly. This is the disadvantage as well as the biggest advantage at the same time. You just need to know if you want to make use of the big color space like AdobeRGB to get "more" colors in the cmyk conversion or if you want to play save and first convert "down" to a profile that is as big as your monitor profile. Hope this clears things up a bit Soft proof is especially useful if your printer profile is significantly smaller than the color space you are working on/ the color space of your monitor. This was e.g. the case in the soft proof use I linked to above. In some cases it might be best to edit in cmyk because you can explicitly edit the colors/ cmyk values. After a conversion from RGB you will probably not get the right black in cmyk e.g. and thus you need to edit/tweak the black as desired (warm/ cold/ rich whatever black). cheers

well yeah your point regarding the unfairness is definitely valid yeah hm maybe that is the case but is also difficult to improve a tool that has been refined for so long...well I don´t have PS anymore so I can´t actually discuss this any further (I see some might argue PS actually got worse in some areas) than I did...

Well the rental price is about the price one would charge for two applications One application 800€ For two years, then an upgrade becomes available So 1600€/24 months 66€ per month Now you might have had some upgrade pricing but you might also get discounts on the rental thing. And adobes thinking like if they give you two applications they might just as well give you all (maybe you can do something with them at some point, but you would have never rented them from adobe anyway so they do not loose money). Pretty user friendly in my opinion. PS LR bundle is cheaper because most photographers are amateurs and fhus short on cash. Cheers

Alright Yeah the cpu definitely is an issue but your pictures had not too many adjustments on them so it should work I highly doubt that the math is any different If you are below 100% zoom affinity will use a downsized preview though and thus the sharpening effect will look different at different zoom levels below 100% This is true for all live filters Cheers -

just watched two new tutorials, generally really like them, the colour grading in the pano shot was really nice iMO. but you always seem to do a merge visible before you sharpen - you know that you can use a live filter layer and don´t need to do a merge visible? this way you can always alter the setting (also the underlying settings) and get live rendering - non destructive keep it up! cheers :D -

Rode SmartLav is a reasonable one, I use it and it gives very good audio if kept close to the mouth. it does not look as cool as a VideoMic pro but I have both, recorded a friend singing and the SmartLav was directly at his shirt and the MicPro about 2m away and the sound from the SmartLav was quite a bit better so although it des not look very professional it is definitely good quality, reasonable priced and easy to use. cheers -

as long as it is a 1:1 mapping between whites(greys) and yellowish tones there is no issue (just map them back) but if you project multiple white tones onto the same yellow tone then there is information getting lost and can not be recovered probably a good choice emmrecs01 maybe take a look at soft proof as a next step

well all other conversions are not actually wrong they are still as accurate as possible you may just loose data because your monitor color space is most likely smaller than the one you came from and smaller than the one you convert into afterwards still - your point is correct after all cheers

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32907-affinity-photo-performance-comparison-data-sheet/?p=159980 here is a List with performance benchmarks, CPU specs and GPU feel free to contribute with your data GPU does not mean much to AP so I doubt it has something to do with your GPU (the data also shows this) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/4978-support-of-dual-gpu-new-mac-pro/?p=20791 (also scroll down to Andy) cheers

I think you could take more advantage through a non destructive approach rather than just working on on the one layer all the time - your result get´s the job done in not a bad way though, it works for you I guess and your mic has a lot of noise, turn down the gain and bring it closer to your mouth instead if that is an option...really hard to listen cheers -
I don't think so so what about the MAS versions, can we get our lost macros back? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/31346-vanishing-macro-library-and-crashing/?p=160332 ... and selection of multiple layer (ranges)? and live perspective filter still crashes AP and the left/ right panel visibility is not resolved either https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/31045-hide-left-panel-not-good/?p=150631

workflow
anon1 replied to rafi266's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Well that has actually not much to do with Affinity but with photography in general You can only truly whitebalance a raw file during raw developement, previous to demosaicing (You can see the difference if you try to get the same result afterwards) Then you want to set levels to set luminosity end points and add curves for Color and luminosity graduation and sharpen for output Somwhere between raw developement and output you can retouch, remove blemishes and compose if you want to To give exact steps would require a book to be written which is actually in the making at affinity headquarters In the meantime you can watch these great official online tutorials https://vimeo.com/Affinitybyserif or read some of the things I linked to at the end of this PDF (LAB, Blend If, Curves, RAW...) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15749-life-after-14/?p=71641 Cheers -
"Export is used to transform into something else" Exactly That is why PSD is in the export options and not in the save as options Psd does not support all affinity features
