Inverse clipping
anon1 replied to Ofek Aman's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
guess you need to go for XOR to get one shape or use divide, does divide not work for you? sorry, you want t keep the rectangle, so you have to subtract the rectangle from the circle put the rectangle on top of the circle in the layers panel duplicate the rectangle select one rectangle and the circle and press subtract -

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/14571-support-10-bit-color-display/?p=71590 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21998-affinity-designer-customer-beta-15-beta-3/?p=104243 so in 2015 they were working on it and in 2016 realised that it does not work with their high frame rates but maybe they can make it work with lower frame rates non the less or maybe high end PC hardware has more options than mac they had 10 bit on a broad range of products earlier than apple I guess cheers -

I tried preserve alpha on one pixel layer using live gaussian blur and it did bleed. So I think it is a great idea to put in an improvement request for this feature. cheers

I like how you build/ added back the water in front but please watch a tutorial about DOF blur effect, this does look outright photoshopped  https://vimeo.com/136106256 https://vimeo.com/139443721 cheers -
You can make a screenshot and measure in AP actually the colors seem to match in this case so apple color picker indeed seems to go through different layers of color management for the document and the UI, interesting

RAM Usage Limit should be set to your RAM, the operating system will handle this anyway, if you want to play safe, leave about 2GB free for other programs but it has never been an issue for me Disk usage - I would not care, has this warning ever happened to you? Undo Limit - I don´t care much but there should be a part in the AP Help explaining it, if you don´t save the history with your document it won´t matter I guess view quality is important you set it to nearest neighbor if your PC feels to slow and otherwise you set it to bilinear Dithering and precise clipping also stress your PC if activated - so you can just activate all if you don't have any issues - if you have issues you can disable them and see if they have any actual impact on how your work looks, it will depend on your work the other settings are different on windows I think so I don´t know you can use this macs to get an idea about the performance of your PC https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32907-affinity-photo-performance-comparison-data-sheet/?p=159980 cheers

Not having a fullscreen preview option is also a major pain point

I requested that for more than a year as well https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/5336-file-system/?p=34539 and a DAM will be done https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13792-dam-affinity-lightroom-killer-request/?p=61067 I assume/ hope/ expect that it will also allow for easy browsing like bridge but until then Bridge is your best (and free) bet. there are countless threads about DAM/ browsing options as shown here https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15130-what-app-to-store-and-organize-my-pics/?p=67968 cheers

well to me the issue is absolutely clear although I have no clue why this is happening and I can reproduce the issue cheers

very nicely done indeed you can also use the smudge tool with a brush by the way, just for even more options https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/20115-painting-effect-smudge-tool/?p=93554 in that thread I linked to some smudge tool brushes from paolo  :D cheers

1 Shape, two colors
anon1 replied to itzmjs's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
It would actually be better to nest the rectangle below the cog and thus the cog acts as a mask for the rectangle you can nest further elements into the cog and thus get very flexible set of "fills" thus you only have one cog shape and this makes modifications much easier cheers -
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32907-affinity-photo-performance-comparison-data-sheet/?p=159980 if you also have Affinity Photo you can use technique to compare your MacBook to other (windows) and mac Laptops and Tower PCs Affinity is not using Metal https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/9997-metal/?p=82403 however saving should be really fast because of the fast SSD processing is expected to be about two times slower because you only have two instead of four cores which makes a huge difference (as you can also see in the chart I linked to) I´ll be getting a 13inch soon as well but Im also currently on a 2012 13inch so I don´t expect the new machine to do any magic, my 2012 13 inch compares poorly to an 15inch or to an iMac as well...that is just how it is (hardware constraints, CPU) cheers

multi Add a Lighter/Brighter UI-mode (implemented)

https://vimeo.com/200783820 Some more preview Cheers -
well if you don´t see the effect of the adjustment layer anyway, you can just use quick mask mode and make your selection (aka mask) when you exit quick mask mode you press the mask button at the bottom of the layers panel and drag that mask onto your adjustment if you alt-click on the adjustment layer you get a view of the mask only, I find that useful
